- And the ball rolls back down the hill.
sisyphus.jpg

Our newly minted momentum is broken and a winnable road game goes by the boards.

- Both Matt Park and Jim Satalin commented that the team looked tired, walked the ball up and failed to get back on defense. I realize that last week featured a couple of great efforts that we can’t expect for every game but there’s no slack in the rope. If we don’t come out ready to make the plays necessary to win the game each game, we are going nowhere.

- Tyler Lydon got in early foul trouble, then injured a leg which he favored the rest of the game. Our best player tried, playing most of the game, but just didn’t have it. He was 1 for 5 and scored 2 points. He did have 7 rebounds but those were the ones that came right to him.

- Our two point guards were back in stinky mode, going 3 for 14. Howard ddi have 4 assist and no turnovers but Gillon, who had had 11 assists two games in a row had only 3 and 2 turnovers. We were down 6 with a chance to win when Gillon jacked up a 25 footer as soon as he got down court that clanged. JB pulled him for the rest of the game. Gillon continued his problems finishing, going 1 for 5 on two pointers.

- Andrew White had 13 points in the first half and 2 in the second on 1 for 4 shooting. With Lydon hurting, we needed more than that.

- Taurean Thompson scored 18 points but gave up

- 5 three pointers are not enough for us to win.

- When do pitchers and catchers report?

Thought Battle played well and continues to show development. Freshman big men with the offensive skills Thompson has are rare...at least for us. Defense can be taught. Keep working with him and he'll improve. The PG play tonight was awful again from both guys. Howard's 10 foot j that was like 5 feet wide left should be in the highlight reel for this season.

How could Howard have no turnovers? That 3 foot pass that he threw into Battle's elbow when he wasn't looking is a turnover credited to Battle? That's bonkers. He pretty much handed it to the other team.

That was Jordanesque with the extra bit of hang time - well, except for being 5 feet to the left. lol

i dread the thought right now of what an NBA ready post player would do to us inside. bull in a china shop comes to mind.

The point guard play has got to be better and be more consistent. I don't expect Gillon to average 11 assists per game, but having 5 to 8 assist games running the offense penetrating and finding open teammates would help. The ball didn't move tonight like it has in the last two games. Defense took the night off too. Winning on the road in the ACC is TOUGH, especially this year it seems. If you don't come to play, you don't win. Virginia Tech was torched in their two prior games on the road at N.C. State and at Florida State. N.C. State lost by 51 at North Carolina on Sunday. As for our team, I remain optimistic that they will continue to get better and will start to consistently do the things they need to do to win. Their record is 10-7 now. It was also 10-7 after their 17th game last year. And we know how last season ended up. Let's BRING IT Saturday for Boston College! They rained 16 3's on our team in Beantown. We owe them.

The upside is so minimal maybe you could add images to it to make it look longer. The downside needs no images and maybe a smaller font.

I tried to imagine an upside image and couldn't come up with one.

Sisyphus seemed like the perfect image for the downside.

Vtech just got whatever shot they wanted...at any point in the game. If they missed, they missed, but they got the look they wanted. I've never seen a team just so easy to play offense against as this one. They offer no resistance. They play D as if trying to create some difficulty for the opponent would be rude.
