The Downside

We have certainly had better offensive teams. 2003 and 2010 were much better.

If I recall correctly, 2003's offense was a work in progress. I'd equate them roughly with this team at this point (except that Melo was a stud from day 1 and I can't put CJ close to that) ...but then they took off. I don't think they were ranked at this point, if they were it wasn't very highly.

I wondered right at the start whether Coleman would have been helpful. Miami was physical and pushed down low. He might've gotten a few offensive rebounds...and some put backs (if he did not bring the ball down low...grrr). Of course, he might have continued to frustrate but it seemed a wide body might've been helpful.

how often does a no name bench player come in and hit 3s against us ? We never do that .freshmen can get hot hands too.. BJ or Buss could come in for a play or 2 and if they hit a 3 let them shoot .. yes I know they may be a liability on but for a short time it could help

I cringe when I think of My Three Sons being in the game against a team like Miami. So does JB. That may be the achilles heel of this team. Other than Tyler Ennis, the new guys have not shown enough to be trusted in a game like this. So we wind up playing 7 guys, two of whom don't score. We needed somebody else to give us something from those three guys.

What this game shows us is that if you take one guy out of the rotation - even a guy scoring as little as Coleman - and it throws off everyone else's roles. Now, suddenly, our instant offense off the bench is moved into the starting lineup, and we have no offensive juice to bring in off the bench.
