I didn't see any discussion of the money the school must have spent to create such a program. I think they led the way to the stratification of Division III, where few teams can really compete with the top few schools. Mount Union, Whitewater, Mary Hardin-Baylor, North Central, etc. seem to be in a higher division than even the really good but 'normal' DIII programs, like Ithaca.
