The freshmen lack of time

I understand going with this rotation and that the games are tight but still if we cant get any of these kids in a game now when are they going to play this year? we have a 3 man rotation at guard which will survive most of the time, but i have to wonder if we can get away with CJ all game and then Grant most of the time. You know there will be a game that Rak gets 2 quick ones and then Grant/CJ get 2 in the first half. I hope they can find away to get some forward a few minutes .

Not sure what we do if teams that can really press play us, glad there arent too many.

I don't see how this is different than normal though. We have an 8 man rotation. There have been many years where we've only played 7(in close games). We have very rarely played more than 8 in games that matter, other than foul trouble.

The NC year we only had 9 scholarship players if I remember right, and only 8 played. Even that wasn't happening for awhile, when Pace was out of the rotation for some of the Big East season and we were playing 7.

the issue is that given his druthers i dont think JB would play more than 4 right now.

What was interesting was Boeheim in an interview said he scheduled this tourney so his freshman could get the experience needed. It seems the experience was focusing on Ennis and Gbinije only.

You have to win these games. We dropped a couple early ones back in the Dontae Greene year and we wound up in the NIT.

Recently we've had some years when we went 9 deep, but that's it. If we had one more guard who could handle and make threes, that guy would also be in the rotation, even if it was only 10 minutes a game like MCW got his freshman year.

I don't agree with this. When you attend games you realize just how much rest time there is over the course of the game with all of the breaks for TV timeouts. If the game goes for 2-1/2 minutes without an uninterrupted break I think that is unusual. If they need more time to rest than that it is either an extraordinary situation or maybe we ought to look at stepping up the strength and conditioning program.

Point taken, but does that mean they need to play an entire 40 minute game, given those breaks? If we're in a close game id try to find a way to sub them out here or there to give them extra rest so they have more in them at the end of the game. You hear announcers say "so and so didn't get much lift in that shot," sometimes...
