NOTE: This is a new thread. The prior thread was deleted by the moderators because of posts that were political in nature. Unfortunately because of the actions of a few we have lost the history on this subject that had been accumulated over the last few months. I will repost some of the latest news on this subject that was announced today. PLEASE DO NOT POST ANYTHING OF A POLITICAL NATURE or this Thread also will be deleted by the moderators. Thank you.

It wasn’t deleted. It was moved to the OT board. Not going to babysit.

Pete Nakos of on3:

Couple of notes:
+ Creates a situation where NCAA members will have to follow Trump's order or ignore previous judicial decisions.
+ A key sticking point will be whether the president has legal authority over NCAA eligibility rules."It's terrible for the schools, do they ignore the presidential order or a court order?"

The whole issue will ultimately be resolved in the courts but that will take
some time. Universities collectively will have to decide what is sustainable
and what is not. Unfortunately there will not be a universal decision since each
school has it's own capabilities and some are in a better financial position
than others.

I always thought that the "let the MARKET decide" position was a little misguided since the "MARKET" is in total disarray and significantly favors some participants over others.
The current system is definitely in a state of flux and will see some significant changes in
the years to come. Whether or not government intervention is needed will depend on
what the Universities can come up with. Big $$ decisions to come.

Like every other market
