One thing to look forward to is the amount of Freshman and Sophmores who had made huge plays today. Pretty much since the NCST game Shafer has seemed to be playing more and more underclassmen. I know I am excited for the future after seeing how some of these kids played today.

Offense

Joshua Parris rsFR career day 7 catches and 2 TD's including the game winning TD
Alvin Cornelius rsFR a career high 7 catches for 81 yards
George Morris rsFR everyone knows what he brings
Devantae McFarland rsFR same as GM2
Brisly Esimte FR has shown he will be a playmaker
Ashton Broyld SO 6 catches for 47 yards. Has been our biggest receiving threat all season
Nick Robinson/Rob Trudo/Ivan Foy/Michael Lasker all Sophmores who have started every game this season for an offensive line, which many would consider a strength of this team
Terrel Hunt rsSO Say what you want but these last 2 games were excellent. Maybe he is growing into the position? This bowl game could go a long way in solidifying his spot as a starter the rest of his career

Defense

Marquez Hodge FR Led the team with 7 tackles today. His only other start vs GT he did the same thing
Isiah Johnson FR imo he has shown the most potential to be a stud of anyone on the roster
Julian Whigham SO has shown he can be a #1 corner. Huge potential
Durrel Eskridge SO probably the best NFL prospect on our roster. Should be pre season ALL ACC next yr
Ritchie Desir SO has seen his playing time increase exponentially these last few games
Wayne Morgan SO has been solid whenever is on the field

That's not even mentioning guys like Arciniega, Ron Thompson, Raymon, Kendal Moore, and Funderburke who has all either played a ton, or shown they can make plays when given the chance. Combine that with what could be our best recruiting class since the recruiting service era and I think you can say we have a bright future

I'd like to see a true hard hitter come up from these list of men. I want to be the defense that receivers fear coming over the middle on, and QB's think twice before hitting a target over the middle.

I want Darius back.

Ha - it means 15 more practices and 1 more game to play this year!

One caveat to all that. Several of them got some PT because of injuries to upperclassmen.

true but it's shafer's 'next guy in' mantra and they've stepped up and made plays.

So true, but in that we see the depth that HCDM was building. We didnt have any depth when he came in and now we dont have to panic (too much) when someone goes down. Huge win, I am so happy for HCSS, the team, and the fans...now about that IPF

T Hunt gets the big piece of chicken. I don't think he's the plan for QB, but someone else is going to have to take that piece away from him.

What really has some potential here is the BC rivalry. Memorable game, some bad blood between players, fans traveled. We're also on somewhat equal footing as programs go. I'd love to go after some of their commits just to spice up the offseason.

People on this board like to downplay the rivalry with BC, but as compared to Rutgers, before the wheels completely fell off the bus, we were developing a nice rivalry with BC. People here felt like their program was beneath us, historically speaking, but those last few games with them at the end of the Big East / Pasqualoni era were pretty fired up. Without WVU around, I think BC is a good choice for our season ending game. This could get juicy.

Nice summary. But has Lasker started every game this season?

Also, will the talents coming in be an upgrade even over these guys?

I should have listed Lasker separately. I think the guys they have coming in will have potential to be as good or better, but I don't see many of them supplanting any starters or anything like that. I can see a WR or 2 having pretty big roles, and maybe a corner or 2 getting big minutes, but I expect most to give us depth until they develop.

It will be nice to have some dynamic wide receivers again. I have been looking at highlights of Cooper, Custis and Williams. And I think we will hear form Cornelius and Funderburke next year. Guys who can get separation and make plays can sure make a difference.

Davis, Lynch, Whigham, Morgan, Williams, Thompson, Johnson, Decir, Hodge, Robinson, Eskeridge, Kirkland, Reddish etc.

Our defense is still gonna be hard nosed, if not more.

Really hope Raymon can make it back.

don't forget Donnie Simmons will be back as well. He was projected to start at DE this season. We will have 5 legit DE's next season

the top WR we wanted this season isn't a commit yet, but he has had us on top for months now. Steve Ishmael. Led Dade County in TD receptions I believe, and has a who's who of college football on his offer sheet

Very good receivers will make a quarterback look great as well. Hunt has thrown a halfway decent deep ball at times. With a guy who can go and get those throws, he might look very good on those long throws.

Hodge is going to be extremely similar to Spruill, but may be even better when all is said and done. True frosh with a fairly developed physique and a strong football IQ.

This team needed the 15 extra practices for guys to continue to develop. Proud of this squad.

I'm amazed that Davis isn't a senior. I assumed he was. He had the big hit vs. Rutgers as a freshman.

He owes us another big hit. It's only fair.

Future's so bright, we need shades

Though undersized I think Cameron Lynch and Dyshawn Davis will prove to be one of our greatest LB duos. Cameron Lynch has had some hiccups, but he really has came in the clutch quite often this year. Davis? Would love to see him be Darius over the middle.

He's another guy that seems to have been around forever because he played early.
