That's why when people picked their 4 #1 seeds I didn't have them. I don't care about a single head to head game. If you can't win either the regular season or tourney, you don't deserve a 1. That's why I had UVa ahead of them. I also value the regular season far more than the conference tourney.

And you really study the seeds, duk got a gift of a bracket, just based on the numbers they got the easiest bracket, especially when you consider st johns lost their C. Its just a joke the favoritism duk receives but they get the ratings and the ncaa is ALL about the $ imo

Gtown is the biggest joke of a 4 seed i have ever seen, and then obekpa being out for st johns makes them a real weak 9. Just incredible all the "coincidences" that duk gets

Strangely enough the Committee seems to favor games in Nov/Dec more than either the regular season or the conference tourney.

If you remember back in 2010, Duke also received the easiest 4 in the bracket -- Purdue, while they should have been reanked as the lowest #1. Purdue was struggling down the stretch and their best player, Robbie Hummel, was injured. At the time the S-Curve Principle was used for seeds 1-4. so there is no way Duke should have got a vulnerable Purdue team but they did.

But take the name off their jersey and use the "All results are equal" principle no matter when they are played, they did deserve that #1 seed.

If it holds to chalk though, the Iowa St - Gonzaga game really intrigues me, as well as the winner vs Duke.

While Duke has a cakewalk to the elite 8, Iowa St and Gonzaga are the exact type of teams that done well against Duke. You don't Duke with defence -- you outscore them in an offensive game.

I think Arizona deserved Duke's #1. They won their regular season and tournament titles. That would have made more sense geographically also. Arizona gets the West, Wisconsin the Midwest, Kentucky the South. Makes so much sense, it's no wonder it didn't happen.

If I'm not mistaken, and I haven't finished reading this post either, so forgive if already stated, but UVa is the FIRST ACC school to win the "regular" season and while not winning the ACC tourney and not be assigned a 1 seed because we didn't win the tourney... Let me further explain myself as I've been drinking some Drambuie to relax, Duke became the first ACC team in conference history to be given a 1 seed while not winning either the "regular" season or tourney championship... The ACC doesn't recognize regular season because if I am recalling correctly, back when the NCAA was invite and tourney champions only the ACC decided the regular season was just that, I suppose... So, yes, I HATE Duke with extreme passion and will only pull for them if humanity should cease to exist unless they won... and even then, I might say *&^( it... and go with extermination... GO HOOS!!!

The ACC was getting a one seed. Since UVA can't be justified with how they've looked without Justin Anderson and since he came back, it went to Duke. No problem with that from me. It's laughable that Nova is the second overall seed. Riiiiight.

The problem with that is the midwest regional is in Cleveland and the South is in Houston. Cleveland is about 380 miles from Lexington and Houston is nearly 1,000 miles from Lexington. Kentucky as the #1 overall seed deserved preferential location so I think they had to get Cleveland.

Yep Duke got a favorable path. So did UK -- no teams with any size. Notice the Committee didn't pack UK's region with tough teams like they did to Wichita St. last year. UK and Duke are the 2 biggest TV ratings draws and the NCAA does its best to protect that.

Duke's resume overall is better than UVA's. They won the h2h matchup on the road and won at Wisconsin. They had a 12gm win streak up until the loss to ND. It might not be fair for UVA but its hard to argue the regular season championship when the league doesn't have balanced scheduling.

Then Duke should of beat Miami and Nc State. Let's not pretend they lost to powerhouses, because they didn't. They got rewarded for November and December. Notre Dame was penalized for it. This move was calculated to ensure Duke lasted in the tournament for once. There is no explanation for giving Duke a one and Notre Dame a three other than that.

Uk,Duke, and Wisc were lock one seeds, to me it came down to nova and uva, and nova's resume I guess was just a little better, plus the injury to Anderson probably factored in as well.

As a Virginian, I'm definitely pulling for UVA and hope they finish strong. However, given coach k' s strong public support of JB, I wish duke well in the tourney and will give them a pass for their favorable treatment, at least for this year. I appreciate coach k' s loyalty and friendship, no matter how I feel about their golden child treatment.

I think it was an almost impossible task to fairly pull apart teams 2-6 for the #1 seed without upsetting people. They were all strong #1 seeds in a normal year.

I think the only way to try to separate them "cleanly" was via conference championships, and the committee has made it clear that those do not matter -- they are merely come about from playing well, so most candidates will have them.

I sort of preferred Arizona over Wisconsin but it was so tight.

UVA's best player is a shadow of himself. if you had duke vs. UVA on a neutral court tomorrow, are you telling me you would take UVA? Duke is better, they have beaten better teams and they have better players.
