I don't know where this conventional wisdom that Dino is uniquely terrible coming off the bye came from. I mean he won coming off the bye just last season.

This board could stand do some actual homework and not just rely on feels.

Sure, but one of them was 7 years ago (and I doubt the braniacs here remember that was coming off a bye).

It's the overall performance which is the issue. Even in two of the wins (UNC and NC State) the team didn't exactly play well. In two of the last three the team lost 71-3 and white knuckled a win against an NC state team starting a back up QB who literally couldn't throw the ball.

The by far best team he has ever needed double OT to beat a 1-4 UNC team and NC St was a shell of itself at that point last season. A win is a win but if we are dissecting the narrative I think those points have to hold some weight.

The big issue is that we never have had that GUY going on 25 yrs that makes plays out of nothing.

Dungy being about the closest and he was never an elite player as many plays as he made for us.

We need team efforts to play well

Have we played a powderpuff opponent after a bye is the bigger q. I'm sure Duke in 2019 wasn't Miami 2001 but the bigger issue is the opponents post bye. Don't see any BC/Pitt/WF in that run.

I'm just looking for competition this week. Similar to this Patriots game this weekend, show me some competitive football and let's hope Dino can gameplan us into the fourth quarter.

I think the narrative around here is frustration with the coach and program which is understandable. Were under .500 in every record and metric including 18-42 in the ACC and 6-22 after Halloween in 7+ years. I know a lot people really like Dino but it's not shocking a large portion of the fanbase isn't happy.

Dino’s post bye winning % of .429,
is far better than his overall win % vs the ACC.

I would argue a 43% winning percentage coming off a bye IS terrible. Considering you have extra time to rest & get healthy, and to scout & gamplan for a specific opponent. And then get blown out in 3 of those 4 losses... it ain't pretty.
