I would guess quite a few.
  1. Shafer has a great rep and, while a defensive guy, he played QB in college.
  2. We just came off of a record year for the offense.
  3. We are returning a large number of O starters.
  4. We are joining the ACC.
  5. We play in a dome.
  6. We have a very interesting playbook sitting on the shelf.
  7. Our 33 year-old OC with 2 years experience just went to the NFL!
I am hoping he is getting a lot of interest.

Shafer has been around for over 20 years so he must have a pretty good network and knows many coaches. He has long roots in the MAC, which has become somewhat of a coaching incubator.

Who are the best BE OC's? They probably want out.

Who are the OC's he knows from his Stanford days?

Who are the coaches he coached against hat gave him the most trouble?

I am very curious how he will pursue this search and am confident he will make a good hire out of a very large field of candidates.

I would think the line is a pretty long one. Hopefully they choose wisely.

I believe this OC position is a very attractive job for an up and coming coach. Dome, Turf, ACC.

I hope that SS chooses an OC that has the same scheme/type of offense that we have.
This would make the transition easier for the current players.
