Sounds totally believable.  I was thinking about Bird when I was watching the aforementioned Knicks 99 playoff games, I remember back at the time, because of how old I was and when I first started following sports (like 92ish, right when Bird was retiring) Bird seemed like a million years old to me at the time and so far removed from being a player.  The reality is, in the 99 playoffs, the guy was 42 years old!  He had been out of the league for 6 years.
