The last eight games of the season

I think Georgia Tech was a must-win game. Losing that really hurt. Along with Wake at this point. If we can somehow go 4-4 down the stretch, we'll be squarely on the bubble with a puncher's chance. 5-3 and we're looking good, 3-4 we're NIT bound.
Isn’t it sad that if we finished 3-4 I’d he happy and partially shocked??

We haven't beaten anybody of note this year. Finishing 8-10 or 9-9 isn't going to cut it.
It is impossible to go 9-9 and not have some good wins in this conference everybody keep saying that and it just sounds so ignorant

3+4=7

we have eight games left
Ha! Just quoting the comment. Didn’t even think. All I saw was three wins. I’d take three at this point! Maybe just skipping a game would help our resume anyway!!!

Didn't think this team would be worse than last year's.
But this could be Boeheim's first losing season.
Would love to be wrong on that.
The Bonaventure, ND, FSU and GT games really hurt.

Wonder why you thought this year's team would be better? Last year's team closed 7 - 4, beating some good ACC teams. That team got better as the season progressed. It was led by players who weren't returning. Pretty clear going into 2017-18 that we lacked outside shooters and also lacked inside scoring from the C and PF slots -- not a great combination.

Don't forget Wake Forest

After beating L'ville the losing season threat is remote. The next game is home vs. Wake. SU had no business losing to the deacs on the road so they better not get swept. Taking care of business Saturday gets win #17 and keeps the streak alive

Again, very frustrating. We were handed a beauty from the scheduling gods... They rolled out the red carpet for SU this year. If we beat SBU, ND, FSU, Wake, and GT, we'd be:
  • 21-3 overall, and probably ranked #5 in the country (only losses to #2 Kansas and #2 UVA x2)
  • 9-2 in the ACC, in second place
Wonder what this team does with Thorpe and/or Thompson still here, not to mention Lydon/Malachi etc.

That’s why I don’t think the sky is falling for the program. With Thompson, who was a hugely unexpected departure, we’d be at least 18-6, probably more like 20-4.

You can't

As far as this year's record, you can't assume all those close losses would be wins and you're assuming the close wins would still be close wins. As the man named Tuna once so eloquently said, "You are what your record says you are." All the missing players notwithstanding, we are 16-8 and should be 16-8.
