I perfer to think that TC did exactly what Jb told him to.Was TC running out the clock and shooting late in the shot clock a planned play or just an odd sequence? Was TC just running around unaware of the shot clock or did JB call this play?
JB called it, but Cooney almost botched it. If he didn't get a shot off and hit the rim, The clock stops and UConn has enough time for Purvis to get a 35-foot three off.[/QUOTE]
Not necessarily. At that point you just foul the guy before they get the shot off, which has now become the common practice.

I think he thought he could get them to commit a foul if he drawed it out enough.
He probably expected them to do that eventually, but it's clear he didn't want a shot up until there was :01 on that shot clock if they could manage that. Cooney almost didn't get it off, which would have sucked.
If you can call 17 feet above Tyler Roberson who goes over the top of everybody to get the ball"our way", I guess you're right.I'm quite positive Cooney had no idea about the clock until everyone yelled at him to shoot, he looked up saw the clock was about to expire and threw up a prayer, which bounced our way.
I love Cooney and always have. That was clearly a brain fart that worked out in our favor.
