My observations from Section 302.

Uniforms are cool but difficult to read the farther away you are.
Best Student section for football in years. Makes me want to upgrade the Dome and keep our venue on campus. I truly believe it would be a big mistake to move to any place with the possible exception of Sky top.

The team looked flat and tired. Even in warm ups they seemed to lack energy. I wonder if camp was too much.
By unit.

QB: Hunt made a mistake and should have been tossed. I think he reacted to some cheap shots a few plays earlier and on the punch play the other player should have recieved a penalty as well. Still he lost his cool. As to his play he seems to throw a better ball than last year but who can really tell with the limited looks. He is shifty and i believe with him in the game we win going away as the QB running is such a huge part of our O. I like Hunt and believe he will continue to improve. I see nothing but improvement from him as the season goes forward.
Wilson was fantastic given the circumstances. Poise, command, control, guts and and arm that is the best i have seen in a very long time. We can win games with him. Great job under a really tough situation. Grade B

RB: Not good at all I didnt see one back with the exception of Mfarland who impressed me. PTG danced too much AAM looked ok but missed some holes and Morris looked lost actually looks like he has regressed. Part of this is poor play calling still what was supposed to be a position of strength didnt impress but it might have been because of the... Grade C-

OL: Horrible in run blocking. I focused on this for most of the game and our guys were being beat actually blown off the ball when it became man time. Pass protection was much better. My thought is that with the emphasis on the spread and on the OL getting to the second level we have not spent enough time on run blocking. Throw in the fact that Adams hasnt coached an OL in his life and we have a major problem. I think that Adams may have been a major mistake. Ol is the foundation of your O and to leave it to a rookie is going to go down as a poor decision. Simply a horrible performance Grade

WR: I thought that our WR by commitee was a mistake. It cost us going fast and you could see that Wilson just didnt have the timing down with most of them. Throwing the ball is about timing and knowing each other. I played QB in HS and realize that each WR has there own way. I hope that the coaches realize that and stick to a tighter rotation. Flemming sure as heck looks the part but wasnt a target much. Ish looks the part and i believe will end up being our best pure WR in a very long time. Custis should be playing WR as he is a physical freak. Kid looks like he belongs in the NFL already need to get him the ball. Bris and Ash are not WR they are athletes playing the position. West looked to be faster and in better shape Ben looks solid as well. Again hard to tell but i like this group and feel that they have promise. It will be up to the coaches and again tighten the rotation. Grade B

TE: Hard to tell they didnt get targeted at all but in the end it was a TE who won the game so because of that i will provide them with an A as the catch on the fake was a very difficult one. Grade A

Next up the D

Watching from home on my iPhone it looked like Hunt was having some serious accuracy issues. There were a slant he threw behind the guy which could have been big yards and also a few missed passes to Ishmael which were way high. Looked like he was aiming the ball instead of just throwing and as Groh noted he was throwing at the man instead of leading him. I hope it was first game jitters but I didn't see much improvement. It was disappointing because he had that early great throw to Broyld on the sideline and I thought here we go... Turns out that was the high point of the game. I definitely question whether Hunt is able to read the middle of the field, I think it was open because of our bubble screens and we couldn't take advantage of it.

Of course it didn't help that the D couldn't get off the field and it was obvious that we were going to have a hard time stopping Nova. I am sure this caused Hunt to press and try to win the game in the first half as all of us and the team expected. I think the team expected a glorified scrimmage which they could just show up and dominate and when it became clear how good Nova really was they all tightened up and got frustrated. I think Hunts frustration with himself and the team was the main reason for the elbow. Not excusing it but I was ready to elbow someone too given how poorly we were playing so I can only imagine how he was feeling.

What row in 302 are you?

I can't tell the 3 from the 9 on the uniforms. And when the uniforms bunch up forget about reading them at all.
