And then they said USC!!!! There is no freaking way Fran would go to USC.Its lazy "journalism"...They take the hot coach and DUH he is going to go the SEC or B10
I feel out of my chair laughing when the dude said he would end up in Arkansas
I get it, it's the normal path most coaches take
I'll my shoes later if need be BUT Fran isn't going anywhere as long as SU continues supporting him
never heard these dude before but they seem to think he will be gone in a few years
He’s a LB at SyracuseFran Brown Jr is a linebacker for St Francis (PA). Did not know that.
You're replying to a post from before the 2024 season. He’s a LB at Syracuse
It’s still March. I haven’t fully converted to 2025 yet. You're replying to a post from before the 2024 season.
HELL NO 10YEARS!!!!!I hope we keep him through at least 2027. Next year will be a struggle but 26 and 27 seem like they both can be really special.
Until FB shows examples of going back on his word….. I don’t see him going anywhere for a long time. He said it day 1 of the job, in his introductory presser he is here for the long haul. Saint Doug said dream job, he didn’t spell it out like HCFB did!I hope we keep him through at least 2027. Next year will be a struggle but 26 and 27 seem like they both can be really special.
Nobody knows what another person will do when they are presented with a great opportunity in their professional life. We all would hope that Fran stays here for a very long time and continues to have success, but at the end of the day Fran is most likely going to do whatever is in the best interest of his family.Fran Brown will accept calls from other schools when he’s a consistent winner. Especially if he’s a winner of the 2025 season. He will politely take calls but he will not be going anywhere – Syracuse is his school, Camden, NJ and the rest of the Northeast and DMV, Florida and the country are his recruiting grounds.
This man isn’t going to Arkansas or anywhere else. He’s already said he wants a NC for this school and with his back ground, smarts, his recruiting ability to pull in the best players for he and his staffs purposes, to continue to build his base to take SU to the ACC championship and a NC are all goals of his.
You have to believe like he does that he will get there no matter what. He is a great man in many different ways. In front of the press, the SU community, the school, conferences and his team. He is going somewhere once he’s got all his players in place with playing experience – taking SU to be ranked at the top of football’s elite. And he’s staying right here to accomplish that.
Hence the reason 'Cuse needs to be PROACTIVE!!!Nobody knows what another person will do when they are presented with a great opportunity in their professional life. I also believe Fran at his word. The administration might be gun shy because of the contract with Dino but JW and the BOT know that Fran is different. Personally, I would be all in on him. Lock him up to a long-term deal with a huge buyout. Fran isn't going to start to mail it in like Dino and unlike Dino he is an east coast person who has roots here. I doubt we ever find another coach for the football team like him. Sign him to a long-term contract and be done with it.Fran Brown will accept calls from other schools when he’s a consistent winner. I could see him going to a traditionally elite level program if offered. He is strategic in his planning (see the advice he gives his assistants to avoid traditional bottom feeder or non-P4 jobs). He knows what kind of support those programs get, not just from a compensation standpoint but also in facilities and recruiting. Its lazy "journalism"...They take the hot coach and DUH he is going to go the SEC or B10

Proactive about what? There's no buyout big enough when the big dogs come calling, and giving a huge contract extension just for that reason always backfires. Let's just enjoy the ride.Hence the reason 'Cuse needs to be PROACTIVE!!!
Yes there is. And SU can afford itProactive about what? There's no buyout big enough when the big dogs come calling, and giving a huge contract extension just for that reason always backfires. Let's just enjoy the ride.
Texas A&M boosters paid Jimbo Fisher $75m for him not to coach. What are you talking about?Yes there is. And SU can afford it
Let me try and explain it to you. SU can afford to pay Fran enough to stay head coach of SU. Understand?Texas A&M boosters paid Jimbo Fisher $75m for him not to coach. What are you talking about?
I do have faith that SU will provide Fran the resources and contract necessary to stay competitive (and interested in being at SU), but that’s not his point.Let me try and explain it to you. SU can afford to pay Fran enough to stay head coach of SU. Understand?
so a $50 billion buyout is not big enough? Let them poach him and we’ll use the money to clone another Fran.Proactive about what? There's no buyout big enough when the big dogs come calling,
But you told me on the basketball board we couldn't afford to buy out Red? So which one is it?Let me try and explain it to you. SU can afford to pay Fran enough to stay head coach of SU. Understand?
I agree. My point is that SU can pay Fran enough money that it would take a very large contract to lure him away. I'm not sure what that number is but i would think in the 7m a year, multiple year contract Fran would be hard pressed to leave SU. Let's say some school offers him 10m a year. 3 m a year is huge but the difference between 4m and 7m vs 7m and 10m while both a 3m difference is enormous. For most executives' stability for their families matters as much as anything once you have achieved a certain level of wealth. My two cents is that 7m a year, and solid compensation structure for staff, and a decent path to the playoffs keeps Fran around until the NFL comes calling.I do have faith that SU will provide Fran the resources and contract necessary to stay competitive (and interested in being at SU), but that’s not his point.
His point is if the Big Boys want their guy, there is no buyout figure big enough to scare them away.
A prohibitively expensive buyout will never be the reason Fran stays at SU.
And my point is that type of contract means literally nothing. Look at Mel Tucker as a prime example of that type of thing going the other direction.I agree.
