Does he mean the people that try to enforce academic standards? The ones that try to stop coaches from recruiting players with cash, girls and other "amenities"?
Seriously, could he not coach without a headset? He probably did at one point in his career. I know there is some good discussion but with 15 people, you still have to direct traffic and ban chatter.
