The new rules

Watched the beginning of the Indiana, Southern Indiana game last night. Both teams played extremely tentative as if afraid of fouling under the new rules. You could see hands being pulled back to avoid hand checking. No pushing or shoving down low. Don't know if things changed as the game progressed and they could see what the refs were calling, but I think teams will certainly be cautious and aware of the new rules. Everyone predicts Louisville will suffer with the hand checking, but look for Pitt to have problems with their usual physical play.

Watched the entire first half and a little of the second. I think it was a combination of what you said above, plus the fact that Indiana seems to have a horrid, young defense.

People keep posting on Twitter about 10 min half scrimmages lasting over 2 hours with all the whistles. Im sure it will be hard to watch the first few months, but its for the best. There is talk that a lot of teams will be converting to zone.

Good. I'll take the pain of watching whistle fests for awhile. Stay consistent with it, and players and coaches will adjust.

I've had enough of what we were watching the last few years. It was getting to where I didn't even watch other games anymore.

If this rule was in place last season, Louisville doesn't come back and beat us in MSG. That was a flat out mugging they put on our guards.
