My thoughts... -I do think some of our donors were JB fans and not SU BBall fans. Need a big personality to help get the big fish in today's game. -It only takes one player to make a difference. We shouldn't be trying to get 10 really good players, at least until we are back to being Cuse basketball. If we had 2-3 really good players we would be Top 25. Shouldn't need as much money if you spend it wisely. -If you want fans to pay for players you need likable or good players. It is a little bit of chicken or egg, but how can you justify increasing one's NIL contribution if you spend it on the players we have the last 2 years? -I would think HS kids are cheaper. Portal players are nice to have but if everyone is new to the team every year, go for the higher end talent. Which will be HS kids. -Most SEC schools are FB schools. And several of them are in poor states. So if most of their fans are sending money to FB, how do the fans have anything left for BBall? And that is assuming they even care about BBall. Most probably think of BBall season as a hobby to get you to FB season. Not getting big bucks there. -SU is a BBall school with a large passionate fanbase. Easily Top 5 for filling arenas when we are on the road and at home. Sure there are bigger state schools out there but do they care enough to contribute? If so, why do they not show up to games? -How do we know what other programs actually have for NIL but at the same time we do not divulge what we have? That makes no sense. -We should have been busing all this time. Wouldn't flying take longer? Wouldn't flying also have a bigger impact on you physically? As an aside it is too bad this country has such a low quality rail system. I wish I could take a high speed train to Syracuse vs driving 3:45+. I could make more BBall games that way. And the teams could use it like soccer teams do in Europe. Edit A few more thoughts... -How did we have the money to be ahead of the game with a practice facility but now we are poor? -Red was handed the job. His buyout should be tiny. It would be a dereliction of duty to have given him a real contract. -If we have a Top 5 fanbase we should be able to have a Top 25 NIL. If we do not, there is a huge disconnect. That is an internal problem to SU that needs to be fixed. The problem isn't the NIL but the people running things.
