Clemson's defense hasn't been overwhelming. They made a ton of mistakes last week. If we can keep their d-line off of Dungey we just...might...have...a...chance.

Its going tot take a gargantuan defensive performance. Turnovers, sacks, miscues. Special teams plays. We cant just say "we need to outscore them" because that will result in a 48-27 loss. Only way we win this game is if we somehow keep them under 30 points.

Agreed. One of those games where we play sky high and rise to the occasion, they're a little flat, they don't take care of the ball, and we make a big special teams play, etc.

"The fastest car is going to win this race" from the day I told my Dad I couldn't watch NASCAR with him anymore.

This thing could go in a lot of directions:

- we look like a young team with deer in the headlights and lose by 30+
- they don't take us seriously and get down by a bunch, comeback only to run out of the luck/time they've been running on for weeks
- our scoring finally matches our yards/possessions and we get into a shootout

What I'm not expecting is a defensive showdown

I'm really worried about our O-line holding up against their front.

I just hope they don't use Dungey like a crash test dummy. They're Dline is nasty once again.

Everybody is. Don't think they don't know it and don't think that Lynch and Macky aren't letting them know that everybody thinks they are inferior in order to motivate.

They're going to press our receivers at the line and count on the d-line to get into the backfield early. I would expect some read draw and screens to neutralize their d-lines' go go mentality.

we havge some clear matchups in our favor if we can keep there Dl off Dungeys jock: especially estime and phillips vs there LBs playing man coverage

I am pretty sure all the reasonable Cuse fans know we are going to need near perfect play from the offense, a near perfect game from our defense, a fair amount of miscues from their team in all 3 phases, and some luck...

That's pretty much what needs to happen for us to win. All of the stars aligning.

For me, I want to see less of the mental mistakes that have been plaguing this team as of late, I would like to see us move the ball against a top tier team (again), and I would like to see the continued improvement from our offense. I am not going to get greedy and even mention special teams. I believe the progress there will be seen with more depth of talent.

Excuse my ignorance but isn't outscoring an opponent kind the goal for every game...assuming you want to win of course?
Cute, but you know what I mean. I'm saying 50 - 47 kinda game.

I'd feel a little more confident about the upset chance if we had some semblance of a running game (other than Dungey scrambling). Just enough to keep the D-line a little honest. I think we'll hang with them and lose by 10 or so. They'll wear down our defense at the end. It's what they've done all year.

If we turn it over as we did against NCSU...it could be interesting.

If we finally hold on to the ball, hoping Clemson finally looks like the team many thought we'd have this year.

hate to nit pick here but this one isn't a universal truth - the fastest car does not always win. whereas the team with the most points always wins.

edit..
my regards to dollarbill44 - should've finished reading before posting..

That's actually not true many times. If you get a fast car with a substandard driver or it has mechanical issues, it won't win most races.
Or if you get collected in some other moron's 13 car pileup. Heck you might even have the fastest car but if you don't play your cards right in the drafting pack at Talladega or Daytona you will get left out to dry as the train rolls past. Lot's of ways to lose in Nascar.

And in the end, you're either first or you're last.

Their outside backers can't cover our slot receivers at all, they will be playing a bunch of 5 DB okie. Which is supposed to enable us to run the ball, we have to date not been able to. that will be the key to the game IMO.

If we can have some semblance of a run game, we have a shot.
