I don’t think we underestimated losing Dungey but overestimated our O system. The whole point is to stretch the field and force the D to make a decision on what to play. If we run the oline shouldn’t need to do much. If we pass the oline shouldn't need to do much. The fact that our first read is wrong the majority of the time is worrisome.

Is it just me or does it seem like we line up then look to the sideline for a play less often this year?

Many people underestimated Dungey because they figured DeVito would offset Dungey’s ruining ability with his passing game. But the Oline play has been an issue and I’m not sure DeVito sees the field well. Once his first option isn’t open, the play usually breaks down. That’s where we miss Dungey.

But you’re right about the offensive system. I’ve never thought much of it. It’s been overrated.

Yes, I have. Have you watched Syracuse? FSU barely lost to Boise State and beat NC State. We scored 10 points against an abysmal NC state team. FSU is better than SU and we will be underdogs. We can't protect the QB or open running lanes. It is very difficult for us to score against a P5 opponent.

The Pitt game is a must win. If we lose, we’re likely on a path to a 5-7 season. So many underestimated what Dungey meant to this team.

Agreed! I knew we were losing a couple good linemen, but saw we had 3 of our top 6 back and figured there were a couple guys ready to step up.

Didn’t count on regression from returners and nobody ready to fill the roles of those lost.

We were 110th last year in sacks allowed per game. That is with a QB who was good at avoiding a sack, which also made the D less likely to bring pressure. He also ran for over 750 yards which helped to open up the run game that still was only 70th in yards per carry.

NC State is pretty bad on offense... so scoring 13 and then 16 is kind of what they do.

I'm not saying we'll go down and beat FSU - I'm saying anyone saying we have no shot is not acquainted with the facts.
