The reactions from losing fans

Part of it was the perception the Media created that the Big East the past few years was so bad that losing to any team in the Big East is unforgivable. Problem is the ACC (minus the top level teams the past few years Clem, FSU, VT) was equal to the Big East but people don't see that.
True. Also, people thought we were at the bottom of the BE. The PS writer at media day asked the other writers a handful of questions about their knowledge of SU football. The consensus was that we were last or next to last in the BE last year though we were tied for first.

Not me.

I root hard for the guy. I did last night and I was very happy that his defense made the stop at the end.

He was a good guy. He loved Syracuse and Central NY. And he tried his best.

Anyone who feels as strongly about our community deserves my support. And I give it to him.

I hope he wins every game and goes to a BCS bowl.

I am a Baylor fan and I hope the Bears hang a hundred on Texas.

1) NEVER said Shafer should be fired. Said if he "loses out" (after the GT embarrassment) him being fired isn't out of the question. Obviously he didn't lose out, so he shouldn't be fired. See "IF" is the key word in my sentence which you ignored.
2) I JUST said the Big East "the past couple years" (see that's the part you ignored, talking about the old BE not the current AAC/Big East) was equal to the ACC minus the ACC's top teams of Clem, FSU, VT. That isn't a bash on the ACC if anything its praising the old Big East of the past few years

3) You are OBSESSED with me, I forwarded all your PM's you sent me 2 weeks ago to the powers that be here as proof. They are on it

4) SU won yesterday and I was right after after the game posting. Don't know where you get with I'm only here after SU losing. Once again your obsession clouding your common sense!
Did you really say that you sent posts made by a good poster to the board admins because he replied to your posts? I'm sorry. that is really wierd.

Please tell me more.
If I recall, it was actually rather complimentary and he commended them on how coordinated so many people could be doing the same thing at one time.

No, not what I said. He sent threatening PM's with vulgar language and threatening language to me for one whole day. I had to pass them along.

To be fair, theyre probably still punch drunk from getting knocked the out.
The coverage in the Washington Post this morning brought smiles to my face.:) The article has some great quotes that illustrate how completely demoralized the terrapin fans must be:
  • "Bewilderment was a common postgame theme."
  • "Each mistake drove more and more fans from Byrd Stadium...By the time Jerome Smith trotted into the end zone from 21 yards out with 10 minutes to go, cheers of lets go Orange" began to ring. Maryland was headed to a 0=16 record record after October 13 during the Edsall era."
  • "...with Craddock eventually kicking a 23=yard field goal. As the kick tumbled through the uprights, fireworks exploded behind the end zone, celebrating Maryland's first points...the explosion seemed almost sarcastic."

One guy on their board said the reason they lost was because their players had to go to class the last two weeks, and ours didn't. When did Maryland become a paragon of academic virtue?

That, to me, was a statement driven by their deep envy of our basketball program. A Freudian Slip, if you may. Emotionally they are deeply tortured by our prominence over them. We out recruit them in their own backyard. The guy who wrote that is obviously completely ignorant of our programs and lives in the world of message board opinion. I don't think our football or basketball teams can be bashed for not going to class when the NCAA has been hanging around looking for Fab Melo's dirty laundry. Sorry, MD. We aren't SEC. We're just better. :)

Especially since the entire drive was the result of penalties called against SU, at least 2 of which were really questionable (at best).
