The Season Isn't Over Thread

I'm with ya man. LGO!! I think we can win the ACCT and get ourselves in. No one wants to face this team.
i said it before and Ill say it again. We just need to run the table. thats a couple huge wins over duke/unc/. we might not even have to win the ACC tournament. we are going to be that team that Digger Phelps use to say was 'on a mission'. Then again, Digger had so many teams on missions that you were basically lame if you were NOT on a mission.

What do you do when the team only looks to two players to score? If the ball is in Donnie’s or JJ’s hands, they are taking the shot and no one else is moving to get open or get position for a rebound. Donnie and JJ are in hero mode where they feel that they must score and they are not looking to get anyone else involved.

I enjoyed watching NCST play with the way they moved the ball with the give and go and getting others involved, it comes down to the players on the floor are getting involved, anticipating getting the ball, moving for position, etc. we need a point guard that can get the players involved. We also need the players to move instead of standing in place on the same spots waiting for the ball. Set picks and get away from the perimeter and attack the basket.

One gripe of many: why do players shooting free throws go around slapping hands with every teammates after THEY MISS THE FREE THROW! Just a waste of time and does not help their concentration/focus for the next free throw. I watched Kiyan do this over and over.

It’s their routine

We have players like Kingz and Betsy that can score but they get two shots a half. Give Kingz the ball and let him take the ball to the basket. Have players set picks on the opposing players guarding Betsy and to get him open for shots. There are more than 2 offensive players on the floor.

We ran a great out of bounds play for Kingz where he scored a big three. And rewarded him by not getting him any more clean looks. Absolute negligence by the coaching staff. These guys are supposed to be professionals. How are they not seeing exactly what we see?

There was a point after the Tennessee game where I thought, based on opponents/venues, we could maybe run the table thru January.

Even after the Clemson loss, given Donnie's strong 2nd half, I thought, we could still win the rest of the January games.

Now I think we could very well end up 12-20. Maybe we take two of ND, Pitt, Cal at home and go 14-18.

Then the fresh start begins.

Agreed. Totally understand that our coaching is worth talking about. It is. But can we still talk about the season, the players, upcoming games, etc... Feels like we've lost sight of the fact we are in heart of our ACC schedule.
That's likely because it's too hard to focus as we continually hit the impeller during every rotation (game) of the washing machine drum on the wash, rinse, repeat cycle that has become Syracuse basketball. It really doesn't seem to matter who the opponent is anymore; the disappointing, sour outcome is still the same.

Season is not over but Red has lost the locker room.

Players know what's going on and they will go into audition mode for their next NIL package wherever this may be.

Red is now dead man walking, the only question is the RedRum RedRum day, sooner or later.

we're in the social media era = being observed and paid attention to = value

keeping up appearances is more important than anything - so "looking cool" is really what matters

it looks so cool to dap up your homies on the court (just guessing)

kiyans a huge social media guy- he had a documentary series about himself in high school

------------------------

kiyans free throw routine is very odd...he NEVER looks at the rim until the very last second, when he proceeds to quickly launch the shot the moment he glances at the rim for the first time...like, does he not know hes allowed to take his time and watch the rim a bit before shooting...? he shoots free throws like hes being guarded

donnie is the opposits he slows down looks up takes his time and hes the best ft shooter on the team

i feel like kiyan ft % would increase a lot if he just paused and looked at the rim for a second or 2 before shooting

reds idea of offensive coaching is merely deciding which player will have the opportuntiy of going 1 on 5 to try and score

he already decided when the roster was built how that hierarchy would go - donnie and jj as the "top dawgs"

then george

then kiyan and kingz etc

he did say after nc state game that everything is on the table and he will "look at everything"...so i think you may be on to something - theres a good chance jj wont shoot 19 times next game, but dont quote me on that

on a positive note, there are currently 6 (!) ACC teams with worse W-L conference records than the Orange

thats actually a pretty healthy number from where I sit

......win a couple games and things will start to get spicy, imho

i was thinking about that during the nc state game - they are playing like its NIL showcase time for next year...or they are seniors and going through the motions...

but they would be wise to still play together as a team...i mean george dribbling into 3 defenders and getting stuffed or bricking is not helping his NIL one bit

team bball helps players look better...i mean just look at nc state
