I have a confession to make. I am always irrationally optimistic this time of year. I never post in the prediction threads because I feel I would jinx us by posting anything other than a 12-0 record. Truth be told, there is always a small part of me deep down inside that always thinks "yeah...it could happen." It almost never does but perhaps this year...yeah, hop on that optimism train.

It is kind of like being a kid on Christmas Eve. Sure, you might find that Santa has only brought you a bunch of socks but then again there could be a shiny new bike. Or a Ferrari. Or a New Year's Day Bowl. You just never know.

Time to put last year and the 4 out of 5 losing seasons behind us. Covid? Every team that beat us last year had to worry about Covid too. With luck, that won't even be an issue this year. New coordinators? That shouldn't even be in the discussion. Injuries? Well, those can happen to anybody and with Dino backfilling the 2-deep a bit, we won't have the depth of a MAC team like last year. We should be in a better position to deal with the inevitable injuries.

My head says SU over Ohio 27-17 but my optimistic heart says "Dino and the guys are going to take out a lot of frustration on Saturday and it will be a blowout of massive proportions." Let's get that season underway. The autumn equivalent of Christmas morning is upon us.

I agree. I hesitated to put 37-20 in my prediction, thinking that may be too out there.

But a part of me thinks this ends up being a 50-17 type game.

I love being irrational!

Isn't OU favored in this game?

Anyone know when babers week 1 presser is? I know last year it was in Tuesday’s

I have convinced myself that we will ensure an undefeated season each year if we just start the season with our first play from scrimmage being a trick play.

We do that, book the CFPs right now (at least in my head).

I haven’t been this excited for a season since 2019. That seemed blind, it I think this team hits 7-8 wins. End of season team MVP coach Schmidt! Offensive line much improved early and continues to mesh and get better as the season progresses

I'm really jealous. I'm almost always optimistic as well. This pre-season I'm at my most pessimistic since 2008. I hope like hell I'm very wrong, and I'd be thrilled to eat copious amounts of crow.
No sweat! You have just been hurt too many times. Like a bad break up, just need some time to let your guard down, hahah

I'm extremely excited for college football to start. I love sitting back on Saturdays, drinking a few cold beers, and watching the different games all day. Normally, I'm overly optimistic about Syracuse football, and while I'm not being pessimistic this year, I'd call myself neutral. I don't think we are going 1-10 again, but I don't want to get my hopes too high that we will win 6+ games and make a bowl. I hope I'm wrong, and we shock the world, but I just can't bring myself to believe it this year.

CFN's prediction is 30-27 Orange.

Why do people continue to schedule weddings on Saturdays in the fall?! We missed the VT win (which we had tickets for and gave away) due to a wedding and now game one I’ll have to be “that guy” that’s going to prop my phone up against my wine glass and watch as much of the game as possible.

You're a guy?

Learn something new every day.
