Until the last update, when i pasted something from WORD, this site would add unnecessary spaces between some lines and I would ahve to take time to delete them before hitting 'enter' to save space. I was delighted when it stopped doing this with the update. But it's gone back to inserting necessary spaces. Why is it doing that?

Here's an example. This what my "July Temperatures" post that is on the "Other Sports" board looked like when i first pasted it:

07/01 94-81 = +13 = -66 79-95-8

07/02 95-81 = +14 = -52 80-95-8

07/03 87-81 = +6 = -46 81-95-8

07/04 94-81 = +13 = -33 82-95-8

07/05 91-81 = +10 = -23 83-95-8

07/06 77-81 = -4 = -27 83-96-8

07/07 79-82 = -3 = -30 83-97-8

07/08 84-82 = +2 = -28 84-97-8

07/09 88-82 = +6 = -22 85-97-8

07/10 85-82 = +3 = -19 86-97-8

07/11 80-82 = -2 = -21 86-98-8

07/12 84-82 = +2 = -19 87-98-8

07/13 87-82 = +5 = -14 88-98-8

07/14 88-82 = +6 = -8 89-98-8

07/15 90-82 = +8 = EVEN 90-98-8

07/16 95-82 = +13 = +13 91-98-8

07/17 83-82 = +1 = +14 92-98-8

07/18 74-82 = -8 = +6 92-99-8

07/19 81-82 = -1 = +5 92-100-8

07/20 87-82 = +5 = +10 93-100-8

07/21 85-82 = +3 = +13 94-100-8

07/22 88-82 = +6 = +19 95-100-8

07/23 89-82 = +7 = +26 96-100-8

07/24 78-82 = -4 = +22 96-101-8

07/25 75-82 = -7 = +15 96-102-8

07/26 84-82 = +2 = +17 97-102-8

07/27 83-82 = +1 = +18 98-102-8

07/28 81-82 = -1 = +17 98-103-8

07/29 79-82 = -3 = +14 98-104-8

07/30 81-82 = -1 = +13 98-105-8

07/31 80-82 = -2 = +11 98-106-8

Comment: After a very hot start, (+56 after five days), the rest of July was pretty normal (+34 in 26 days). We usually have a preview of fall sometime in August, so enjoy the hot weather now if that’s your thing. July is my favorite month. Winter is the best combination of a distant memory and a remote possibility.

What type of computer, and how are you pasting?

Hewlett Packard with Windows 10. I use my cursor to highlight something from WORD, then right click and hit "copy, then right click on my post and hit "paste". It's the same procedure I've used for years. Until the update, it produced the above spacing. With the update it had single spacing except where I had put a space in myself. I was pleased I no longer had to laboriously eliminate all the extra spaces. Then, a couple days ago, the unnecessary spaces were back.

Try control+shift+v to paste. I use an iPad, so I can't try it, but I'm told it may solve the problem.

Also worth trying is using notepad or an email window.

If that doesn't work, as a last resort, you can put the data in a table.

Please paste something new so I can see what it looks like.

I'm wondering why it would change, then change back when I didn't do anything differently on my end.

This is from something I'm still working on. It's single-spaced on WORD.

I've never used notepad or a table and don't know how to do it. I don't know what using an 'e-mail window' means.

i just seems to me that if a week ago I was pasting things like the above list and tit was single spaced and now it isn't, that something must have changed here.

So, the extra space is between the lines, not between each word or letter, yes?

Just out of curiosity, can you go to forums.mchugo.net and try to paste the text. It's a previous version of the script, with no addons.

Use Otto as the username, and Otto as the password.

Edit: An email window is just the box you type an email in, then send.

Edit #2: In word, to go to the next line, try holding down the shift key when you hit enter.

It would not allow me to use Otto so I used SWC75. It did not add an extra space:

I pasted it onto an E-mail window, (where is came our single spaced), and then copied from that window. I will now paste that here:

I typed this on WORD line 1
And held down the shift key line 2
While I pressed ‘enter’ line 3
And it was single spaced line 4
And now I am copying that line 5
And pasting it onto this forum line 6

And it came out single spaced.

I could use this method while typing things on WORD. But why did I not have to use it for a couple of months, (because this board did not add the unnecessary spaces)? What changed here?

It's either one of the addons, or the most recent script update. I'm going to turn off the addons here. If you can, repost in a few minutes.

Thanks, and sorry for the trouble. I'd do it myself, but I only have an iPad.

I'd added "line 1", etc. to the above to make it look like a list. I decide to paste the list I've been using, line by line on another WORD document and hit "shift" and "enter" simultaneously, then copy and apste here.

So shift/enter works. But should I need to do it when I didn't have to last week?

My last post was made before I read this. I'll just copy and paste from original list:

I guess I'll go with "shift" + "enter" when i make a list.

Got this from the author of the script.

"Ask the user to click the Toggle BB code button in the editor toolbar if pasting from Word."

My guess is the toggle icon is the last one.

Thanks for staying on top of this. What is the editor toolbar?

Thanks. I didn't know it was called that. Let me try something with that.

For each team I’ll give the numbers and national rankings, (of 130 teams), in total yards, rushing yards, passing yards and scoring on both offense and defense as well as turnover margin. For comparison, here are those numbers in the first two years of the Babers regime in Syracuse:

2016
Offense: TY- 440.8 (42) RY- 119.6 (115) PY- 321.3 (11) S- 25.7 (80)
Defense: TY- 501.1 (122) RY- 225.0 (108) PY- 276.1 (118) s- 38.6 (120)
TO: -1 (75)

2017
Offense: TY- 456.3 (23) RY- 161.5 (70) PY- 294.8 (18) S- 27.4 (75)
Defense: TY- 444.0 (106) RY- 196.7 (99) PY- 247.3 (98) S- 32.2 (98)
TO: -12 (123)

Here’s another comparison – to the 65th ranked team of 129 - last year in each category:

Offense: TY- 398.5 RY- 164.0 PY- 233.4 S- 28.3
Defense: TY- 393.1 RY- 166.5 PY- 223.5 S- 26.6
TO: even

This is without clicking that button:

I'll try what produced the extra spaces before without the toggle button first:

the spaces are gone, even without using it. I like happy endings.
