- Again, I say that if we have 1-2 guys playing well, we lose. If we have 3-4 guys playing well, we win. If we have more than that, we blow somebody’s doors off. We have a lot of guys on this team who can play well and have had good games: the now inured JJ Starling, the hobble Eddie Lampkin, Donnie Freeman, still raw but looking like and one-and-doner, Elijah Moore who scored 43 against Cornell and Tennessee and then 10 against Notre Dame and Albany, Jyare Davis who had 20 vs. Notre Dame and was 7 for 7 tonight, JaQuan Carlos who has 20 points and 17 assist in the last two games. and Chris Bell, who is still looking for his shot but we know it’s there. But we’ve been struggling because 1-2 of those guys have been playing well at a time. In this game six guys had at least 10NP even though only one guy played more than 25 minutes. This is what we should look like, at least on offense, (which is what most box score stats are about.

- Chris Bell scored 18 points, even if he didn’t make a three. He’s learned to drive to the basket and run the break to score. But this was a 30 point game converted to an 18 point game because of no threes.

- We shot 70.8% inside the arc, (those missed lay-ups weren’t there), 40% from three and 89% from the free throw line.

- For most of the game we dominated the boards and played aggressive defense, which allowed us to build up a 66-42 lead with 12:21 left in the game, just the way it’s supposed to be in games like this…

- Pat called in after the game to Cuse Sports Talk and said “This is the first game where it felt like we won.” He’s right, barely.

5-4 and 22+ to go

LET’S GO ORANGE!

Net Points

This year I’m going to make things a bit easier on myself and just list the net points in each game after the Upside. Once a month I’ll do a deeper dive into the numbers rather than doing a “Net Points, etc.” post after every game. ‘Net’ points are the positives (points, rebounds, assists, steals and blocks) minus the negatives, (missed field goals and free throws, turnovers and fouls committed).

Donnie Freeman game: 27NP in 22 minutes season: 145NP in 233 minutes = 24.9NP/40m
Eddie Lampkin game: 17NP in 25 minutes season: 104NP in 232 minutes = 17.9NP/40m
Jaquan Carlos game: 17NP in 37 minutes season: 43NP in 273 minutes = 6.3NP/40m
Chris Bell game: 16NP in 27 minutes season: 76NP in 256 minutes = 11.9NP/40m
Jyare Davis game: 12NP in 18 minutes season: 108NP in 193 minutes = 22.4NP/40m
Petar Majstorovic game: 10NP in 15 minutes season: 17NP in 72 minutes = 9.4NP/40m
Kyle Cuffe game: 8NP in 12 minutes season: 4NP in 34 minutes = 4.7NP/40m
Elijah Moore game: 6NP in 28 minutes season: 62NP in 170 minutes = 14.6NP/40m
