- I’m actually more impressed with that this comeback win than a beautifully played blow out. We might not play this poorly the rest of the year. But we won anyway. This team wins game other SU teams would have lost. Looking at the rest of the conference. We could have a record like the one we had two years ago, when we went 30-1 overall and 17-1 in the conference. How would that be for a first year in the ACC?
- The MVP was surely Trevor Cooney, who scored 21 points and added 4 rebounds and 3 assists. The best thing about it was that he was only 2 for 5 from outside the arc and 6 for 8 inside of it. He’s not just a three point gunner: he’s a complete offensive player. He was 2 for 12 from the field and 2 for 12 from the arc vs. Miami. He doesn’t need to have games like that. He’s also a complete player. He’s great at playing the passing lanes and knows when to go after a rebound. And he can dunk with both hands. Play the whole game, Trevor!
- Fair and Grant were almost inept for the first 25 minutes of the game but came on strong after that to finish with a combined 26 points and 14 rebounds. Grant had a couple of dunks that JB said would wind up on Sports Center. “The type where you say Oh! Did that really happen?”
- Ennis didn’t seem to be having a dazzling game but he did have 12 points, 5 assists and, 6 steals, which sounds pretty dazzling. He had one turnover and hit a couple of big shots to get us going when we were down.
- Lonnie Jackson made a three pointer to put BC up 44-50 with 11:57 left. Eddie Odio made a dunk with 44 seconds left to get BC within 66-59. They didn't get a field goal in between . That's 11 minutes and 13 seconds during which we out-scored them 22-7 and thus won the game. Shut it Down, baby!
- It was a loud crowd in Boston, much different than what we heard in Blacksburg. I think outside of North Carolina, the ACC doesn’t care that much about the round ball except in the former Big East venues. We’ll make ‘em care.
