- We beat a good team. Marshall isn’t a good shooting team but they play good defense and are strong rebounding team. It’s the sort of win that could look good at the end of the year.
- Our defense was overwhelming. We must have gotten 3-4 steals in a row as we blew it out from 11-8 to 28-10. They missed a lot of shots but they were contested shots.
- James Southerland finally had a good game against a good team. He didn’t shoot all that well, (1 for 3, all from the arc and 3 for 6 from the foul line), but he hustled and kept those long arms out, getting three blocks and 2 steals. It’s good to see him playing hard even when the shots aren’t falling. It’s also good to see him get to the line so he can score anyway.
- Brandon Triche and Michael Carter-Williams were also very active on the perimeter. MCW played his best game so far. He showed good court vision and had along pass to Triche for an assist.
- Dion Waiters got back on track, scoring 15 off the bench. He also seems to have a new attitude. Matt Park noted that after a turnover, Boeheim called him over and Dion twice said “My fault…my fault”. Last year nothing was his fault.
