- Donnie Freeman has just cracked the egg shell and has some clear holes in his game. But he produces. He had his 6th double-double tonight.

- Chris Bell climbed out of the grave to his four three pointers, (why didn’t he get more shots?) and lead the team with 18 points.

- JJ Starling made a powerful return to score 7 quick first half points. He was unable to maintain that level but it’s a start.

- I want to see more of Petar Majstorovic, (for as long as he can stay in the game with all the fouls he draws. He can move and he hustles. He got 7 rebounds in 13 minutes which Eddie Lampkin got 4 in 18 minutes. My favorite movement was when he grabbed a couple of rebounds and fed the ball back outside where his teammates missed. He grabbed his 13 rebound in a row – and put the ball in the basket himself. So there!

- 10 for 25 from three, baby!

6-8 and 17+ to go

LET’S GO ORANGE!

Net Points

This year I’m going to make things a bit easier on myself and just list the net points in each game after the Upside. Once a month I’ll do a deeper dive into the numbers rather than doing a “Net Points, etc.” post after every game. ‘Net’ points are the positives (points, rebounds, assists, steals and blocks) minus the negatives, (missed field goals and free throws, turnovers and fouls committed).

Donnie Freeman game: 18NP in 28 minutes season: 190NP in 355 minutes = 21.4NP/40m
Chris Bell game: 15NP in 22 minutes season: 91NP in 343 minutes = 10.6NP/40m
Petar Majstorovic game: 7NP in 13 minutes season: 34NP in 115 minutes = 11.8NP/40m
Jyare Davis game: 5NP in 21 minutes season: 134NP in 281 minutes = 19.1NP/40m
Eddie Lampkin game: 4NP in 18 minutes season: 167NP in 377 minutes = 17.7NP/40m
Lucas Taylor game: 3NP in 29 minutes season: 45NP in 249 minutes = 7.2NP/40m
Kyle Cuffe game: 2NP in 14minutes season: 15NP in 117 minutes = 5.1NP/40m
Naheem McCloud game: 0NP in 1 minutes season: 3NP in 11 minutes = 10.9NP/40m
JJ Starling game: -1NP in 32 minutes season: 81NP in 252 minutes = 12.9NP/40m
Elijah Moore game: -2NP in 3 minutes season: 68NP in 253 minutes = 10.8NP/40m
Jaquan Carlos game: -3NP in 19 minutes season: 81NP in 444 minutes = 7.3NP/40m

Chance Westry game: 0NP in 0 minutes season: -1NP in 10 minutes = -4.0NP/40m

Thanks as always SWC.

My Upside: no more “we would have won if we had JJ” posts
I think the “we would have won if we had JJ” should have been and continue to be “we would have won if Carlos didn’t play”

Hope you’re feeling better.

Glad we hit some threes.

Season tickets are going to suddenly become really affordable.

My upside is that carlos, Eddie, Taylor, Davis, and hopefully Bell (yes I know he scored tonight) are gone after this year.

My downside is that I’m fearful JJ and Donnie are gone too

I wish they would find a seat for Carlos in the locker room, and leave him there during games.

Given I doubt Red's capable of becoming a championship caliber coach, I view major upside to every loss -- if we lose out we might start the rebuild this Spring instead of delaying the inevitable.

I'd rather lose every game and get a new coach in March instead of win random games like this for 12 total and endure 1-2 more years of this.

So you're going to rot for the team to lose to force the to fire the coach. Some fan...

I'm not actively rooting to lose. I can't bring myself to that. But after a loss like the last one, I console myself by saying the upside is this purgatory will be over faster. We're currently on a road to absolutely nowhere and need to find the exit asap.

Always root for a win, but if Red doesn't make it to the ACC tournament, and win at least 1 game there he needs to be gone Steve. Not being at least among the top 15 teams in a bad conference is a valid reason for termination of the contract.
JB on his way out the door dragged the program down to almost where it was before Dave Bing got here.
That is unacceptable for a program like Syracuse.

Guess if you were a Pats fan you would be thrilled with their win today
As much as a Giant fan I was with theirs last week. Real happy. Only thing that would have made me happier is if we won another "meaningless" game today.

He also kept the program in the national spotlight and a relevant name for almost 50 years. I think having some stinker seasons the last few years with him some of which are part of the sanctions will never mask the things he did for this program we all love.

We were 2-22 before Dave Bing got here. I would accept the statement that (facing a much higher level of competition) JB started giving us records we hadn't seen since the late 60's (11-14, 9-16, 12-12). Red may be tumbling for something worse that than. But not 2-22.
