is that when it finally happens I'm sure we're all going to be woefully un-impressed.

For several weeks now I've watched as coaching staffs have filled out, coaches have traded teams, positions coaches all over the country have moved on and there's been lots of hiring, some lateral moves some promotions some demotions etc.

There's been two rumored openings for over a month now and still nothing from Syracuse. I don't get it. The due dillegence part and taking your time is frustrating. Staffs all over have moved pretty quickly and nobody seems to be worried about hurt feelings, contracts or other teams - only syracuse.

It's frustrating when people point to the convention. No other teams seem to wait for the convention. Marrone should already have a dozen candidates in his head, interviewed and hired.

The length of time this has taken is ridiculous.

Teams are still in the playoffs though... ( that's what I'm praying for)

I think that too. He had guys in place before but held announcements off for various reasons. Think Daost. He will bring in 2 new guys and maybe 3. Would not be surprised if 1, maybe more, are NFL guys and still in the playoffs. I just hope they aren't all NFL guys. I want at least 1 that would be a recruiting stud.

I want 3 that are "recruiting studs," but I would settle for a pair of studs and 1 special teams guru...

i would love to see a few new guys coaching the offense-a oline coach would be awsome-
a legit special teams guy also, not a family friend in need of a job -

If they hire my guy, it will be the best move of the Marrone era.

If they were Recruiting Studs they wouldn't need a Job.

If what I heard is true one of the hires will satisfy two areas that need the most attention.

From what I'm understanding the interviewing is in progress.
Any prediction on timing? Next week? February?

We aren't going to hire new offensive coaches since no offensive coaches were fired. give it a rest.

Actually, I think the worst part about waiting IMO is that it would be beneficial to have those coaches actively working the recruiting trail this month.

We could hire an O coach. Hopefully a QB coach. Yes we had 5 guys on D last year but we really only need 4, which is what we had Marrone's first two seasons.

Sure we could considering Hackett is the OC, QB coach and TE coach which is absurd and unheard of.

is this a fact in your own mind? no one knows What is going to happen-and if marrone wants to keep his job he better fix the offense

This is true, wasn't considering a QB or TE coach. Probably should have phrased better that we aren't going to hire a new O Line coach.

Here's my thing. As much as I hate Hackett's playcalling, I don't mind his work with Nassib. Ryan doesn't have a great ceiling, and the staff has gotten a very high percentage of that potential out of him, IMO. At this point, the next jump is going to be based on how much better the pieces around him get.

1-special teams coach who can do just that,i want the days of old when we scared people with our specials, not this joke that makes them have conga lines they are so happy-

2-someone who can fix whatever the fudge is wrong with the offense

everything else is gravy

Waiting for NFL guys goes along with what I heard a while back. I heard this from a college coach who was giving away all of his SU gear (as long as the takers never wore it near him) because he is very good friends with one of the coaches who was let go. The direct quote was "To win we need NFL guys." This method really seems to work well in the world of college football. Sarcasm.

Do you have some insider knowledge that Marrone is going to fire himself?

He hasn't been waiting for the convention. There were some other potential changes that would have effected which way he went as well.

And please don't be under the impression that SU is a destination school for the type of guys Marrone is trying to get here.

You building a defense for bad hires already? The nice thing is, you can use the same one for recruiting. No one wants to come to Syracuse, so we should be happy with mediocrity.
