There are Probably Some Posters Who Haven't Heard the Dome...

I was standing in the aisle of the 1st level end zone where MO ran for the 2 pt conversion. I just recall high 5 and hugging complete strangers as everyone was losing their mind. The loudest I have ever heard the place...and I have seen Van Halen, Rolling Stones, and U2 in the same venue. Just hoping we can blow the roof off one more time!!!!

I was 12 yrs old and still remember that game. Absolutely bananas. Loudest thing I have ever heard. The Dome will shock people this weekend. Its a great venue when fans show up.

PS - Brominski game was VERY loud as well.

'87 Penn State game was bananas. See this '87 season recap video. At the :03 second mark, look for the guy at the bottom of the screen in a white hat with blue brim. That's me! The first play to Moore is at the 2:15 mark. Listen to the crowd go crazy when he catches that pass. Loudest I've ever heard. Imagine how much louder it would have been if all of us dildos weren't waving those orange pom poms and were actually clapping. :D

This is so beautiful.

I was't at the VT game in 1998, but I remember being a teenager at the 2002 VT game at the Dome. The 4th quarter was the craziest mix of emotions I've ever witnessed. Randall/Wilford contacted on deep pass after deep pass that silenced the Dome. But then Nunes/Tyree contacted on deep pass after deep pass that would cause the Dome to explode!!! Awesome to pull out the W in OT in what was otherwise a lack luster season.

Looking forward to hearing a boisterous crowd this weekend!

I was a frosh that year at that game and it was awesome.. really raucous

I was an undergrad from '04-'08... No... no I haven't :(
I heard Kentucky/SU basketball game sound like football game back in early 90's. If you go to the game try and go to the top somewhere and you might be able to hear the sound bounce between the roof and the highest seats. It's kind of neat.

G'Orange!

Underrated loud "moment"...because the game was such a disappointment was UNC '96 season opener. We blocked two punts in a row in the 2nd half and it was incredibly loud. After the first one, we scored a few plays later to cut it to 17-7. Then we blocked another punt and returned it for a TD that was taken back by an SU penalty on the play(fitting for that game). But for that brief time from that 2nd blocked punt to the TD, it was so loud you couldn't hear yourself.

I went to both the 1998 and 2002 games. I was three for the Virginia Tech game in 1998 and can't remember too much, but I know it was loud. I was seven for the 2002 game, and I can definitely remember that game. I distinctly remember Maurice McClain's interception in the end zone in triple overtime to seal the win. I went crazy, as did the rest of the crowd. One of my most favorite Dome memories by far.

Having seeing countless games at the Big House in Ann Arbor, the Dome with 50,000 is multiples louder than Michigan Stadium with 115,000.

Mike Brown, I think.

And that was a phantom penalty. Really disappointing game.

Cant wait to hear it tomorrow. Its been much pumped. I was at the Clemson-FSU game in 99 when the noise was measured at 133dB.

It was recorded at 124 for the UGA game so the team has been in some loud environments but certainly inside a dome makes it different and being the visitor totally changes the discussion.

Mike Siano catch
Rob Moore catch
McNabb to Brominski
Michael Owens 2 PT conversion

My ears still hurt from those moments.

West Virginia in 87. Loudest thing Ive ever hear in my entire life. stunning.
After Owens ran in that two point conversion the dome erupted. I couldn't hear my own cheering it was so loud in there. Brought my son, then 13, to that game and he remembers it as the best game he has ever seen. So glad he went with me. Made him a Syracuse fan for life.

I said it in another thread, but I've never heard the Dome louder than the game against VaTech when Freeney sacked Vick 4.5 times. It was a bitter ending since Vick broke off about a 50 yard game winning touchdown run, but every time Freeney ran him down in the backfield, I thought the place was going to explode.

That sounds right. I think Abrams blocked one of them, and Jim Turner returned the 2nd one for the TD that came back.

That game was awful. UNC destroyed us in the first half. But then we had our chances to get right back in it...the nullified TD would've made it 17-14. Instead we settled for a FG. Then we drove down the field and had to settle for a chip shot FG...which we missed. Could've been winning or at least tied, and yet were still down 17-10 due to stopping ourselves.

I think Cuse missed at least 2, maybe even 3 FGs that game, and committed a ton of penalties. Another example of over scheduling. UNC went 10-2 and had already played a game at that point. We had a loaded team, and started 0-1 like always. Could've played a nobody and still got a W despite all the mistakes. Almost 20 years later, we're still making the same mistakes in scheduling.

That 96 team was good enough to be undefeated going into the season ending Miami game at home. Missed opportunity.

Agreed. Though most of that happened in the first half. The Dome was insanely loud when we kept sacking Vick...and when Nunes shockingly completed a few bombs to get us the early 14-3 lead.

I remember the 2nd half as an agonizing half of watching it slip away. But it was definitely incredibly loud when all those sacks kept happening.

And games like that are why I think we have a chance tomorrow. VT was 6-0(I remember because a group of tailgating Cuse fans made sure to scream 6-1!!! to every Hokie fan that walked by.) , and Cuse was 3-3. They were probably a pretty big favorite...but we gave them all they could handle even though VT had a solid talent advantage.

I was so bitter that they'd gotten a game in before us - was sure that that made the difference. Huge missed opportunity.
