If you can't recruit elite talent player development. Syracuse is never going to recruit elite talent without a lot of sustained success thus this Babers system which is all about player development is great for our future.

Doug Marrone was good at player development but he bounced to the NFL. I never thought Scott Shafer was good at player development as a HC. THat is why I am excited for the Dino Babers ERA.

I was watching the draft last night and I was shocked when I was seeing Utah State have multiple players drafted in a row. I mean Syracuse should be sending 2-3 players a year to the draft. I think after a couple of years with Dino we will.

I get your bigger point, but Utah State is a really good program with a strong athletics department. They put a lot of guys in the NFL.

I respect Utah State's program they are really solid but they shouldn't be sending more NFL players than Syracuse. We should be able to recruit better athletes and develop them.

I would bet our athletes and rosters would be similar quality level recruits but the Utah State coaching staff from Gary Anderson to whomever it is now has just a done a way better job developing them.

As i was a huge Shafer proponent, its hard to believe that none of our players the last 3 years were developed into nfl picks. We have had talent on this team. A vast majority of nfl picks round 2-5 were 3* kids. When you see ALL the MAC teams including umass, 2 ndsu, 4 fcs players including a few from the ivys; it makes you scratch your head. Btw, yes, utah st. Is a very strong program, bad exanple.

Didn't we see this coming? We haven't had any candidates for all-league teams, except Dixon and Estime. Maybe there are a 3 or 4 on the entire team who have a chance at being drafted. It is the challenge for Babers & staff -- build the program with better recruiting.

I think that is the point -- we have not had many players who have been candidates for all-league teams (even if those teams are 3-deep), and fans consistently over-rate our talent. How many candidates for all-league teams do we have on the entire roster -- maybe 3 or 4?

Program can certainly do better under Babers, but not a lot better until he finds ways to attract better talent. Recruiting isn't the only thing, but it is important.

I doubt we will ever see the Punter get drafted under Baber's watch.

and on the off chance it appears likely, we will have to have a sign up sheet to sit with Millhouse 24/7 to ensure his safety from himself...
