-Jabari Parker is a "local guy"

-These are two great programs.

-Perry Ellis isn't just a clothing designer, he is also a Kansas basketball player who looks like former Uconn star Donny Marshall with a porn stache.

etc. etc.

Don't forget, both Jabari Parker and Andrew Wiggins have dads who played in the NBA. Bet you never knew that.

And on cue...he just said "a local kid" about Parker.

Kansas has an African volleyball player who only started to play basketball at age 16. the next Olajuwon. LOL

Did I hear him say that we hype freshmen too much and place too much pressure on them? :bang:

We need 6 fouls.
People PAY TO SEE THE STARS.

He actually said this.
College basketball. Fans pay to see the stars. Is he out of his mind?

What I learned? That Wiggins is a one dimensional player and Jabari Parker is the real deal.

Oh, and both the KU and UK fanbases have to be the most annoying and obnoxious groups out there...and it's not even close.

I kept hearing him say how much more athletic Duke was this year in comparison to last; aka all the white starters moved on.

He must have forgotten about the Big East's failed experiment from the late 80's - early 90's.

I was thinking about that too. One of the reasons it failed though, was that in the NCAA tournament and other non-conference games we had to go back to 5 fouls, which put our players at a decided disadvantage. Having it league-wide is an interesting idea, if players don't seem able to adapt as much as we are expecting them to. With the league being as freshman-heavy as ever, for them at least it isn't like the excuse is that they grew used to old NCAA officiating. Although I'd rather have faith in players being able to adapt, I don't think this idea is one that should be immediately ruled out as an option.

Is this true? You think they would've mentioned something like that during the telecast.

I learned where the mute button is on my remote

I'll never understand how people can watch games on mute (assuming you're not all talk). The sounds of the game get you emotionally invested in it. *side note*- try watching a horror movie on mute. Completely changes it.

Vitale gets a ton of smack but I don't mind him at all. Dude absolutely loves this game, and so do I.

I"m convinced he records about 10 phrases before each game, and then ESPN just plays them on a loop.

Nothing he says has any relation to what is happening on the court anymore.
Vitale is the worst. 20 years ago, he was a cute diversion. Now he grates on me. Over and over and over again. I can't take it.

Agree 100% on both counts.

He is awful, and has been for a long, long time.

I learned that I saw wiggins first NCAA fg. Then he was corrected and reminded that it was his 2nd game. That he scored 16 points in his 1st game.

Vitale is a joy. Love that guy and his love of the game, and his general love of most everything else.

And I love it even more that it makes that crank Billy Packer stew that much more.

yeah he's been good for college hoops, but Vitale is just an buffoon and I really can't bear to hear him anymore (and have felt this way for about the last 15 years or so)

I am surprised that no one mentioned when he went nuts over Wiggin's first hoop of the night...which he called the first hoop of his career. It was then pointed out that Kansas played on Friday night. You could tell they were joking about the gaff, but that Vitale was definitely embarrassed. I was loving every minute of it.
