Things I've learned from the Vitale commentary tonight

I'll never understand how people can watch games on mute (assuming you're not all talk). The sounds of the game get you emotionally invested in it. *side note*- try watching a horror movie on mute. Completely changes it.

Vitale gets a ton of smack but I don't mind him at all. Dude absolutely loves this game, and so do I.

Its weird. I often watch syracuse games on live TV and then re-watch them on DVR. The second time around, I realize there are huge vats of verbal diarrhea that I had no idea were uttered the first time around. Somehow my brain has evolved an apparatus by which I can hear the sounds of the game yet not actually hear anything the announcers are saying. This only happens when I am truly into the game..like 'cuse game..its games like last night where the annoyances of the announcers are actually consciously recorded in my brain.

The same thing happens to me with SU games only. The first time around I'm too busy "coaching" the game to really take in most of the commentary.

Agree 100% on both counts.

He is awful, and has been for a long, long time.

He sued to be worse. He got to the point where he wasn't even talking about the game at all. Then, a few years ago somebody must have told him he'd better stick more to the subject or find another line of work. Now most of it is at least about the game, if not all that insightful.
