This board is such a "small-world" place...

Too funny. Geez, I barely post here compared to most folks...
Have you ever lived in Maryland, or did you know anyone associated with Maryland's athletic dept. in 2003?

Hahaha. I actually do live in Maryland. But I don't know 'Bees or Julius Hodge.

Wait, I think I've figured it out. That means Bees was reading the board at thst time, saw someone names "themole" from Maryland, and he started putting the story together like Verbal Kint talking about the barbershop quartet in Skokie, Illiois.

So that means...Bees is Keyser Soze?

It was a great time and the first time I had met anyone in person. What a crew. I had spoken to CTO offline a few times and I had written Tomcat years before when he did an SU recruiting blog (were they even called that back then?). Another funny connection - my middle son went to school with Bees' son growing up and had even been to our house but Bees and I had never met. I knew Igor only through his posts from way back when. Igor even got banned from a Knicks message board while John Wallace played for them. Memories.
The first time I met anyone from the board, it was CTO, Bill Orange, and Tomcat - at the Rutgers 'wind' game. The Syracusefan Rock the Dome sticker Tom gave me finally disintegrated last year.

I still have my sticker, which is affixed on my refrigerator door, since I don't have a car anymore.

Funny sidelight to that "Wind Game." After a while, we decided we wanted to get out of the hurricane, so we repaired to Jake's Box (the AD, not the poster. If it was the poster, we would have had beer in the box) for some warmth. As usual, Jake went all out with the display of Ritz Crackers and Cheez Wiz--hey, we kid because we love--and assorted soft drinks. Kevin MacConnell, who at the time ran the Scarlet Letter or whatever they call their fundraising club, stopped by to see how things were. CTO nicely asked Kevin "might there be a place where one might be able to get an adult beverage?" Kevin said to follow him and we did and we did go behind enemy lines and imbibe in the Scarlet R Suite. Good times.

My father-in-law used to work, indirectly, with RayinVA.

I golfed in a tournament with Marsh1 in Cooperstown NY several years ago. Met him through my next door neighbor who matched us up. (Incidentally we won all the cashola:D thanks mostly to him.) We later discovered that we had known each other before knowing each other on the board.

That was pretty funny OE how we put 2 and 2 together. After playing in Cooperstown with you a couple of years later I was playing in the Post Standard Amateur golf tourney's first round at Liverpool. I hit a terrible approach shot way left on the 16th hole and as I walked up to the 16th green I see this guy standing there. I didnt think anything of it because I was paired that day with Zach Vinal who was the defending champion and Joe Russo Jr who had won the event a few times and we had people following our group around all day. As I walk by him he looks at me and says "Orangeyes". I was grinding to try and make the cut and didnt really grasp at what he was saying. Then he said it again. I thought to myself "great, you have Orange eyes"...and really didnt understand what he was saying to me.

Then you looked at me and said for the third time "Orangeyes...from the board". Well then it clicked. I think I made a 30 footer to save par on that hole (which actually helped me make the cut to the next day) so you certainly brought me luck. My father was actualy following me around that day and you started talking to him. As we walked to the 17th tee my father says to me "Did you play golf with this man in Cooperstown?" Then it clicked that we did (through our good friend Teddy) and it all came full circle.

Weird indeed!

I still have that money set aside with my communion money. Who knows maybe I'll use it when we play another round together.

Ha...very nice. If I remember you were a contributor as well that day.

;) Don't think that this gets you back into my Will. I'm leaving everything to the Orange Pack.

BTW, speaking of small world stuff, a while back I started exchanging PM messages with another poster here. We found out we grew up in the same town at the same time, and shared many of the same experiences growing up. It took me several weeks and dozens of email messages before I realized I was communicating with myself through another screen name I had created previously. Damned Alzheimers!

This made me laugh out loud at work.

DeWittshire. That brings back fun memories of a bar with that name over near LeMoyne. Killed many brain cells at the DeWittshire!! :-)

The DeWittshire Taverne (yes, there was an "e" on the end of tavern. They were going for that colonial theme.) was owned by Joe Mashie, who's kids all went to J-D. DomeTOC and I popped in there about a year ago for old times sake. Not one of our better decisions. What a dump it is now.

I met my wife at the 'Shire. It was a dump but it's our dump. Haha

Oh, TOC and our crew live for The Dive Bar. We love them. In fact, after we hit the Apulia Fire House Pancake Breakfast last Sunday morning, we cruised up Rt. 11 all the way to Hancock scouting prospective dive establishments. Found some new hidden gems for my next visit in April.

The greatest trick the Kim Jong Bees ever pulled was convincing the Big East he didn't exist. And like that, poof. Syracuse is gone.

I tried going to the Shire Thursday night with a buddy who used to go to LeMoyne. Apparently it's now closed and reopening as DJ's or whatever old Maggies is called now.
