This board needs a dose of Lorazepam

I'm still trying to figure out what comments were so out of line in your eyes that you needed to play board white knight. No one is calling for the coach's head (maybe Reed) and although people have expressed disappointment in certain players I didn't see anything that was too out of the ordinary after a loss. Maybe some posts were deleted that I didn't see. :noidea:

This was a loss in a game that fans had in the win column before we played. I don't think the team thought that as well but they didn't seem to want it as bad as USF and the result is a lopsided loss to a team many believed was inferior. Now the team has to steal a game that we didn't anticipate. Seven games left but none look to be as "sure thing" as this USF game was that I kept reading about.

I'm still driving 8 hours to UVA this week and I hope to commence in some celebratory tailgating afterwards. ;)

Dude, I'm not playing white knight. I am being realistic. There were some absurd comments in the USF game thread and in other various threads as well. I can't specifically point to any of them.

The biggest issue is that after a loss, people exaggerate the hell out of it and this place turns into a raging fire. The "we suck" attitude is hard to read and a little over the top. We played horrible against USF, no doubting that, but there are a lot of the right pieces to a puzzle that the staff needs to continue working on. We've already seen signs of what this team could be, especially on offense. At this point, it's just a matter of working on it.

Ahh I didn't read the Game Thread as I was at BWW and left mid 4th quarter. I'm sure in a 1,000+ post thread it has its winners/whiners.

For a lot of us this board is our SU Football therapy and is expected to get crazy after a head scratching loss. Would rather see people get a little loopy on here than go postal or kick the dog.

For fock's sake, everyone needs to settle down and get a good night's sleep. For starters, I am disgusted and shocked with the abysmal result like everyone else on here, but no need for some of these comments. We came out flat and needed to be aggressive on offense to start this game IMO. We were way too conservative and then our defense got bitchslapped all day long. In the 2nd half, Lester opened things up and we moved the ball pretty well in the 3rd quarter. Just needed that effort for the whole game.

We needed this game and needed it in a bad way. The momentum has been killed, but that certainly does NOT mean the season is over. We still have 7 games left and many of them are winnable.

I hope some of you bridge jumpers read this before you make the leap. This is a young team that has potential and can still get bowl eligible. Shafer isn't getting fired tomorrow and we get a chance to redeem ourselves against UVA next weekend.

Believe me, I have no voice left and my blood pressure is likely a smooth 190/115, but this loss doesn't mean the world is ending. Did we really need this win? Yep, but we're still 3-2 and have a lot more opportunities for redemption.
Nice post. This loss hurt a lot. That's not a bad thing, rather a sign that we have hope and care more than is good for us. We have a bunch of great players but some glaring weaknesses as well. I hope the coaches figure out how to win with these guys because I think they can. We may have to switch away from conservative game-planning and opt for an "offense is the best defense" mantra. We need to score early & often to win enough games to get to a bowl, and we have the players we need to do that. Our defense just isn't going to carry the day the way we've come to expect. The coaches need to develop as much as our young players and aggressively play to our offensive strengths. I think we came out flat against a team that was inspired and could have won if we hadn't been so conservative to start the game. They came out motivated at the half because we didn't come out firing from the git-go. We helped them believe they could win, and they seized that opportunity. We can do better...On to Virginia!!

it is a dry heat relative to what they get in Florida. indoor heat vs outdoor heat. We get maybe 10 days per summer that rival the Deep South. I'm talking 70s dew points.

I must have missed that word relative in your initial post. And all anyone responded to that you said was that it's not a dry heat.

I guess I disagree that USF is a poor team. They got some great speed, made some good plays and Taggart outcoached Shafer.

I agree about our staff though. The kids looked flat and frankly timid most of the game. So confused why, but I remain confident this will be fixed for UVA.

Lastly, it looked like we had alot of guys go down with injuries. Wasn't sure if they were mainly cramps, but man. A few of our key players and both starting OT's.

Worst team we have lost to post GROB

Your indoor heat vs. outdoor heat is curious. Temperature, dew point and relative humidity are causally intertwined. If the temp. in the dome is 80 degrees and it's humid inside due to all the bodies, perspiration, etc. that raises the moisture level in the air increasing the dew point. Therefore, if the humidity level is very high 85% + in the dome, the dew point would be inching closer to the ambient temperature of 80 degrees. At 100% relative humidity, the dew point inside the dome would equal its max (saturation) temperature of 80 degrees, as the dew point can never exceed the ambient temp. However, that mark would be literally like a sauna inside the dome, and unbearable (unless you wanted to dress like that Hoosier girl in the dome a couple of years back ;):)).

If it is humid inside the dome, it can not be physiologically dry, that would be quite the scientific phenomenon. If you are captioning 'dry' heat, then the relatively humidity would be extremely low as would the dew point...hence the Arizona dry heat analogy, but certainly not accurate relative to the dome moisture/comfort levels and your dry heat relative to Florida comparison. Humidity equals humidity no matter where it is. If you want to compare the heat index relative to humidity, dew points and ambient temperatures, well now that's a horse of a different color...
