This is a really fun SU hoops video and well worth watching

Entertaining.

Clearly shows that the strength of SU's teams has been the forward position - the first center wasn't picked until #14! Also, the strength of our guards has not been shooting.

Loved Eric's pick of Fab and Mowins pick of Dave Johnson, one of SU's most underrated players. Love Leo as a 6th man but Sean needed more shooting at that point, and Owens and Leo overlap a lot.

Except for Sykes' team, you could argue all day which of the teams is better.

That was fantastic :):) A very enjoyable hour. Surprised that Dave Bing and Brandon Triche didn't get picked, although they did get some honourable mention. Bing was way before the time for most of us, but Triche I believe is the winningest player ever at SU.

I would love to take part in something like this, although I would have a hard time getting set up from a tech standpoint. If anybody cares to do something like this you can count me in if you don't mind a Canuck and a non alumni on the call ;)

It looks like it was done on Zoom. Anyone with a Zoom account could set up such an "event."

It was the Jim Boeheim coaching era. Bing was not on the list of players they could pick.

I don’t know who’s team would win, but if a brawl breaks out, Dave Bing’s team is cleaning house.
I just looked at it with that in mind. You are correct, sir

Where is a list of the teams selected?
I don't think there is one but I wrote down the draft. here it is.
Bing--- Derrick Coleman, Flynn, Waiters, Wes johnson, Etan Thomas, Shumbert
Sykes---Devo, Grant, Ennis, Rak, Lydon, Carter Williams,
Devo--- pearl, Wallace, Andy Rautins, Fab Melo, Nichols, Battle
Beth --- Melo, G-Mac, Siekaly, Steve Thompson, Hart, Dave Johnson
Sean--- Douglas, Owens, Moten, Warrick, Bouie, Leo Rautins

Some one should take all the players' stats, styles, etc ... and do one of those virtual contests like someone did with the Kentucky Derby last week ... matching all 13 Triple Crown winners.

that would be extremely fun to watch

Those are the two top rosters.
But Sean''s is really exceptional.
Just looking at talent: he's got the top shooting guard...one of the two best points...3 of the top 5 or 6 forwards and one of the top 3 centers.
In an all-star situation like that...Leo Rautins is the perfect 6th man.
He played point forward but if needed he probably could play the 1- 4 positions.

A little surprising Arinze Onuaku didn't get picked.

Otis Hill didn't get picked either. Only one center per team.

Bing's team is great inside. Etan is the all time leader in shots blocked, DC the all time leader in rebounds. Both can score inside too. Not much outside shooting. I think Flynn and Waiters would get a lot of steals but could be taken advantage of with a good outside shooting team. They are really good.

Sykes team is fun but not competitive. Not one top 10 player on her team.

Devo has a surprisingly really good team. Not as good rebounding as some of the others, might be the best defensively.

Beth's team is pretty small. Not that great defensively. But Melo would be the best player and he would make everyone else better. That might be enough.

Sean's team again is not going to be great shooting from the perimeter but they could run and pass (Sherm is our best ever here and Leo and Billy were probably our best passing forwards ever). Lots of alley oops with those high flyers and Sherm on the team.

I would put my money on Sean's team but it would be a hell of a tournament to watch.

“Not much outside shooting”???
With Wes (40%+ from 3 @ SU), Shump (38% career, 43% best season) Dion, and even DC can shoot the occasional 3.

If this tourney is played today, B.Skyes' squad wins going away.
I mean, DC is 50. Siekaly is even older, Leo has bad wheels ...

Sean's problem is lack of shooting. David Johnson would have been a better pick for his 6th man, or Shump, or Battle. Switching David and Leo with Beth's team would have made both of them better. Also, I see Moten as half forward, so Sean is short on guards.

Those are the two top rosters.

Bing and McDonough have the best teams. I think Bing’s team is probably better because they have more outside shooting. Louis Orr was a better player than any of the 6th men drafted
