this is one of those teams...

Not sure how programs who routinely play the best two teams in college are going to be pooping their pants at the sight of us.

Its not when we walk off the bus that teams poop their pants. It's when they are staring down the zone during the first possession, and realize that our zone is nothing like what the walkons did in practice.

How's fishing today? Get any bites? :p
SUball

Whatever...I think people overrate how teams respond to our defense.

I think I've seen it really intimidate like two teams in ten years.

Which is not to say I dislike zone, or that I think we won't be good defensively. Like I said earlier...our biggest concern is going to be making baskets.

http://espn.go.com/ncb/boxscore?gameId=330890269 22%. Rather intimidating, don't you think?
http://espn.go.com/ncb/boxscore?gameId=330870084 33%. Rated by many as one of the best offenses in college basketball last year.

I found three, and all in the same tournament. I guess that means none in the ten years prior.
You can interpret the word "intimidate" however you want. So maybe we should ask the coaches of these three teams.
So, at least you caught a bite, ha? :)

Couple of Marquette quotes you might enjoy.
"They beat us from start to finish. We collectively tried everything we knew to try," Marquette coach Buzz Williams said. "It is the zone, and it is the players in the zone."

"They cover ground really good. You've got to get the ball in the middle, you've got to play inside out, you've got to get to the free-throw line and wear them down with the 3-pointer when you can," Blue said. "They're really good at what they do in that zone."

"We couldn't get one to drop in from up close," said Marquette's Jamil Wilson, who was 0 for 5 on 3-pointers, 1 for 9 overall. "We couldn't get one to drop in from outside."

Tired of proving our own fans what even the opposition seems to know by now about this defense.

Ton of respect to Buzz Williams. Gets a lot out of his players. He has some annoying antics at times, but I'm sure I would "grow" to like them if I was a fan of the other side. That said, this is telling. Respect for SU, but as scared as it gets. No denying that.

Williams said: "I thought Syracuse was going into the ACC. I thought when we played them back in February that would be the last time we had to play them. We did the same thing two years ago in the NCAA Tournament against Syracuse. I wish we couldn't play teams from within our league, particularly Syracuse. There's no way to mimic what the zone is. Obviously, our guys are familiar with their personnel and familiar with the zone. As difficult as it is to play against a Rick Pitino team and the things that they do in the fullcourt and the halfcourt, it's the same thing against Syracuse. The grind of playing against that zone every single possession is really difficult. All coaches and players understand where you need to attack the zone. But saying it is much (less) difficult than actually executing it."

So you think that a team that beat us a month earlier was intimidated by us?

Though to be fair, the Indiana game was one of those games I was thinking of...the other being Oklahoma.

Montana was just grossly overmatched in every facet of the game from a talent standpoint.

I was hoping that at the very least, you would concede Indiana, which you did. Fair point about Montana in that they were overmatched, but that doesn't necessarily mean they weren't intimidated either.

And about Marquette. These were William's words, not mine. But anyone who eludes to the fact that they didn't want to play us ever gain sounds pretty scared to me.

Well I'd prefer that you were right than I...that's for sure.
