I think we have a lot of talent this upcoming season, but we're short on experience. We're going to be relying on new faces for crunch time minutes. Aside from Thickburger, Keita and Christmas nobody has been on the floor to close out games (and thank goodness CJ decided to come back). This will be a great chance for the new backcourt to gel. Even though these teams won't be super talented, they are actually teams that play together and have cohesive systems. I think they'll be able to challenge us just enough, while getting Ennis, Gbinije, Roberson, BJ, Patterson, and Beef Supreme low pressure minutes.

Could help SU recruiting more Canadian players!!!

It could, but this tour won't attract Toronto kids - and the real hotbed of talent in Canada right now is in the Greater Toronto Area - recent first round picks in Andrew Nicholson, Tristan Thompson, Cory Joseph, and this year Anthony Bennett and possibly Myck Kabongo, next year Andrew Wiggins... and hopefully in the future Tyler Ennis.

Only kid from Ottawa area that has been a great player in recent years is Olivier Hanlan from Boston College. Montreal has had a few more in Kris Joesph and Khem Birch.

Two of the hottest Canadian prospects for 2014 come from the Ottawa area. Marial Shavok and Kevin Zabo

I don't think we are as short on experience as people think. The nerves might be there in front of crowds but I think the poise will be there.
Fair,Christmas and Keita have played alot of minutes. Jerami Grant has played 500 plus minutes Cooney has played 400 plus minutes, Dajuan has hit 300. Gbinije got 100 minutes in.

Thats 7 guys, 5 in the rotation last year, and before someone says Gbinje only got 100 minutes, hewas more ready then Cooney last year if he didn't have to sit. Mike didn't bring the experience in as a sophmore but he did just fine ;). Those 7 can take up all 5 positions as well.

Agree, the extra playing time can help, but the real key is to gel in march. Gbinje/Dajaun/Ennis scoring 32 together, Cooney/Grant/Roberson/Keita/Rak/Patterson/BJ putting up another 25-35, and Fair scoring 15 and if they don't meet those expectations one group hopefully will score more to balence the other ones out. I think the zone will be tough reguardless especially if it can put up alot of points without Dajuan on the floor.

Couldn't agree more--great opportunity for this team to get some work in prior to the season kicking off. Given all of the new faces [which includes Gbinije, who isn't technically a rookie], this tour gives the team not only extra time to practice, but a bunch of no-pressure exhibition games to gel, improve chemistry, and work out the kinks.

Very happy that the team is taking advantage of this opportunity this summer. It will pay dividends.
