rivalry week where key SEC teams play weak OOC teams in order to tune up. Clemson plays South Carolina next week, so in order to level the playing field Clemson plays a weak OOC team this week. If it works for the SEC do it. In this hyper competitive world of P5 conference versus P5 conference no shame in copying what works. That's how it rolls in the most competitive league on the planet, the NFL.

Rivalry week is obviously very important in the SEC, but they care a whole lot about the conference too. And at the end of the season you want your best teams to have a tune up before that last game because it might minimize the probability of an upset. The other P5 conferences would be wise to make this a part of their practice IMHO.

I wish the opposite. I want to see the teams that actually play someone (FSU vs BC) jump these SEC teams playing patsies. They should send a message.

Agree. Becomes a big letdown weekend in what had otherwise become one of the most interesting college football seasons I can remember (present company excluded). This weekend's slate is fairly lame, which is why gameday will be in Harvard.

Would be nice if the committee sent a message after those teams weaken their resume this weekend. That could change the practice.

I think this playoff system shines a brighter light on the scheduling issue in November. Part of the problem is that the scheduling practices in the SEC put pressure on the other P5 conferences to schedule the same way. We've seen Clemson adapt and who can blame them. I'd hate to see the other P5 conferences follow the SEC's lead on this issue, but I also think it might be in their best interest. As a fan I hope the opposite happens and the SEC stops this practice.
