This is the best day for Syracuse Football in a long time

LOL.

I really hope people aren't calling this an "affirmative action" hire because this is THE BEST hire we could've made after getting rid of Scott. Hands down.
You say LOL, but this is serious! Some will not say it now, but if he struggles out of the gate...just wait! All I am saying is that he is a great choice, he has earned the right to be here, and if he doesn't win, I will be calling for his head...but it will not be because of anything other than what he has or has not done for the program. I hope I am wrong, but time will tell...Go Cuse...

We have an identity and direction now for our football program. Can't wait to watch this team next year. I am super interested in seeing who is going to be on his staff. Should be an interesting week. Love seeing all these quotes from Recruits, current and former players. Everyone is exciting.

One big thing here: I was told yesterday that if Babers were the hire, it would silence around 95% of the transfer talk among the younger players on the team.

I've always felt that the right hire was going to mitigate any recruiting fall out. In fact, I thought, and still think, that the move from SS to a new HC (the "right" guy) will result in recruits flipping to us. It will be interesting to see how this plays out.

The next step, hopefully, is to hold on to Acosta. Acosta comes from a spread background too. I think Daoust will go wherever Shafer does (if possible). I don't really care if any other coach leaves.

I don't think there's any way to know how he'll do but I think if you look at this logically it's the type of hire you're looking for after deciding to fire shafer. Experienced, offense-minded, capable of running a program. Not much else you could ask for
He has also coached in the northeast (Pitt RB) and he has coached as a HC in the ACC's footprint. At least in theory, he understands what kind of players we can pull in. That's a big deal IMHO.

We have just landed, IMO, an absolute gem who is PERFECT for what the Dome needs: an explosive offense. Heard since Tues night that Babers was close to a done deal, but I couldn't get too excited at the time because of everything that was going on in the coaching world. I relayed that on to a few people, but still kept hearing rumors of others getting an interview. After it fell through with Frost, Babers clearly emerged as Coyle's #2 and he aggressively went after him behind the scenes.

Everyone rejoice! This is going to be fun.

Welcome to the Cuse, Dino Babers & family!

The Baylor offense is disruptive technology in the ACC. I've been been pushing for that since Marrone left. Montgomery has been there since the beginning and really knows Brilies offense inside and out and that's why I was hoping of him (closer to the pure system) but can't argue with the numbers Babers has put up.

Looking forward to this next phase. Interested to see who the DC is, because it still matters.

None of our offensive skill position players should want to transfer.

Really. If any of the offensive players want to transfer you don't want them in the program anyway. If I'm an offensive hot shot recruit in the ACC footprint I'm calling Dino asap.

Awesome day to be Orange!!! I like Babers better than Frost as Babers is proven, has Head Coaching experience, and could be here longer than Frost. Frost had one foot out the door already as we all know.

Now with a REAL football coach who has experience as a head coach and who runs a modern era college offense with a proven track record...the one thing to say about Syracuse Football today is "THE SLEEPING GIANT HAS BEEN AWOKEN! " From the dying days of the Pasqualoni era till today, this program has been on a downward spiral and run by fools! With the exception of a couple years Marrone had mild success, this program has had zero direction and been stuck in the dark ages overall. Those days are over, Syracuse with this hire will soon be the TOP football program in the Northeast. UCONN, Temple, and Rutgers will go back to being doormats of football programs and doormats of the Northeast football scene. Pitt and BC over time will take their roles as being programs that are beneath us. And it will be Syracuse and Penn St as the two power football programs in the North East. Within 12-18 months the Northeast College football landscape will get back on it's proper axis with Syracuse as one of the Top dogs in the Northeast. It's been over 10 years of nonsense in regards to Syracuse football and that ended today with this hire.

No more on the job training with first time head coaches who were in over their head from the start. No more bonehead in-game coaching decisions that make zero sense and that are indefensible. No more crazy talk at press conferences. This football program now has a professional and proven head coach with a track record of success who knows what he is doing in this role. This program has a brand new IPF, it will have a new stadium or a renovated stadium soon, and we have a head coach with a winning track record who understands the modern game of college football in the year 2015...the time for excuses are over. The time for winning begins now! The bar has been raised, the expectations have been raised.

No offense intended, but you didn't need to be told this. Despite the earlier alarmist talk from a few, common sense suggested that transfer talk would die down once the disappointed kids came back to reality.

There wasn't going to be any mass exodus.

To Mr. Coyle and Friends:

When was the last time we had a competent AD combined with a competent head football coach? I guess you could make the argument for gross/Marrone but they always seemed successful despite being disfunctional.

They're definitely paying attention. Several big name players have already expressed their immediate interest. Can't say it enough, this will be so much fun.

I should also mention that "The Boys Are Back in Town" by Thin Lizzy came on the radio around 10 AM this morning while I was explaining my hopes for getting Dino to a casual Syracuse fan. Great moment.

SO pumped!!

Like you, I rejoice in this selection. I just hope he gets support from the community and we don't hear that constant drone by many on these forums..things like "Affirmative Action" Hire...etc. etc., like we heard with Dr. Gross! Evaluate the Guy based on his production and let's start this new era off with Support and Encouragement...Go Cuse!!!

Hardly an affirmative action hire.

Not even close

This might be the most ridiculous thing I have heard today, period.
