This much is true

I can give fran a pass he lost a very talented qb, and this year with the schedule was always going to be tough. No excuses for next year he needs a better backup qb, better oline talent, more playmakers in the front 7 and better decision making. What happened at the end of the first half can never ever happen again.

Fran brought in a ton of OL bodies in the portal for a reason. Unfortunately, like pretty much every portal guy not named Angeli, the bodies have done little to nothing
Definitely give him credit for trying to address the issue, but just concerned that it appears their production before they got to SU is an indicator they really just might not be that good.

Fran Brown isnt going to Penn State. He isn’t going anywhere. But he does have to regain the trust of the fsnbase.

Rickie Collins isn’t the answer.. He never will be. But we need to develop a credible backup QB..We also can’t expect Angeli to remain healthy for an entire season, so Carney needs more of a look and we need to explore the transfer portal.

The running game is woefully inept..Part of the blame may go to the offensive line, but our two backs are not getting it done..Expected much more from Willis..Anothsr area that needs to explore the portal.

Defense wasn’t to blame., It stepped up. And to be honest, the defense was serviceable enough in that previous 2 games if we had shown any semblance of offense..

The punt to end the half was a wildly bad decision, and Broen owned up to it. He’s still growing as a coach.

The goal now is to win our 2 remaining home games, develop our younger players and QBs and restore pride in the program.
i am not writing collins off yet. he seemed to gain some confidence after rushing a few times and made a good td throw. i think there is a glimmer of hope there. i hope fran allows nunzio and other coaches handle him . he should keep his role to encouragement . which i believe he does.

Regain trust? Come on man.

dan vallari has been totally under utilized .

Maybe they need to run more designed plays to get him the ball, but Angeli seemed to have no issues finding him. He had 240 receiving yards through the first four games and four or more receptions in every one of those games. He's only had more than four receptions once in the last three games.

In 180 minutes Rickie still looks lost that's way more time then anyone should get as a P4 QB to show they can do the job.

He's been wiiiide open... a lot. Struggling QBs should love check downs to the TE but our current struggling QB doesn't appear capable of check downs or anything beyond staring longingly at first reads as opposition DBs read his eyes and undercut routes.

Pump fakes would do wonders for RC Pro Am at QB. Anything at all to move defenses off presnap reads really

Im not so sure anything with OL is on Fran.

These portal additions are all the picks of Dale Williams and everyone is who HE wanted.

I seriously question his ability to evaluate talent. I also seriously question his ability to coach.

We need to let Dale go in the off season and pay for a solid OL coach.

If the oline could go from breakdowns on running plays to 25% less it would be a huge uptick for the offense. Is that too much to ask? the first question to understand is how much of it is coaching vs mental mistakes. I see many plays where guys are being handed off to air. Coaching or film study? Are the blocking assignments being called out at the line correctly? Things you wish you could ask at the PC even if the coach wouldn't answer them.

Wasn't he picked by Nixon? What was the connection?

I agree. I was more focused on the talent level of the players when I made my post and didn't pay attention to the reference to Fran instead of Dale Williams. But definitely think we could use an upgrade in OL coaching.

Good call. From an old syracuse.com article - Williams played briefly with Syracuse offensive coordinator Jeff Nixon at West Virginia in the early 90s and the two maintained a connection.

I think we need a new oline coach. He was the one i didnt love of choices. We have had oline coaches and all previous stops all told us exactly what we are getting and its what we got. Pass pro ok and run blocking not so much. We dont zone well and honestly dont have a true zone rb. We need to trap, pull, and run some counters or jet sweeps to open stuff up.

two years into this. No way Fran isn't seeing what is happening with the oline. If its coaching, he should know by now.

Agree but Dale was hired by Fran. So again it’s on Fran much like bad assistant hires have always been on the head coach. Marrone, Shafer, Dino all made questionable hires with their staffs. Dale’s numbers running the ball at Purdue were horrid. Not really a surprise but agreed we need a new online coach next year

Fran hired Dale on a tight budget and out of neccesity.

I have a feeling JW will be open to Fran hiring a higher budget OL coach after watching the results.
