I am a casual Cuse football fan. Seems that we are becoming more of a 3 star consistent talent team and that is a step up the food chain. In some years we can get into no-name bowls and even win those bowls, but imagine if our basketball team were composed of 3 star players? We would generally be a bubble team. The promised land in football still seems far away. Please save the argument that star ratings are meaningless. In any particular case they are meaningless but in aggregate they are meaningful. We need to take recruiting up another notch if we are to become relevant.
High level coaching trumps going from an avg. 3 star to 4 star team imo. UM did not have a stellar recruiting class last year due to the timing of Harbaugh's hiring. Just look at UM now, a half season or so under Harbaugh and they're knocking at the Top 10! I don't think they were even sniffing the top 25 pre-season. A victory over MSU this weekend puts them squarely in the top 10. I presume UM will have a top 10 recruiting class this coming year...primarily because of Harbaugh. My point, if SS doesn't get it done, we need to hire a coach with a successful track record as a head coach, not another learn on the job candidate.
