It was a statistical anomaly. It will happen again in 54 years. Mark it down.
That’s your takeaway from seeing their 33pts midway thru the 2nd half vs Niagara? It was a statistical anomaly. It will happen again in 54 years. Mark it down.
They had a once in a blue moon shooting day. Boeheim was playing the new guys as much as possible to get them up to speed in the zone defense to prepare for Atlantis. It was just the 3rd game of the season and they went into brain lock when their 3's kept falling leaving more and more open looks. A perfect storm. Just flush it, it never happened. That’s your takeaway from seeing their 33pts midway thru the 2nd half vs Niagara?
good god I hope you’re a satire account or somethingThey had a once in a blue moon shooting day. They are a great outside shooting team engineered to beat the 2-3 zone. But they are awful against man defense. They are going end up with a record around .500. Sigh.
Next coach?
But VCU and Auburn happened...dude this team is whack right nowThey had a once in a blue moon shooting day. You don’t say? I, for one, am shocked by that. They are a great outside shooting team engineered to beat the 2-3 zone. But they are awful against man defense. They are going end up with a record around .500. Sigh.
A Colgate shuttle passed me on the way to my in laws this past weekend. I threw up a little just seeing that name. After the game I was ready to write it off as a once in a lifetime game for Colgate.
Then I just kept dwelling on the fact the Orange gave up 100 points.
100 points!
100 points ...to Colgate!
No matter how well a team is shooting that says there's a big problem with the defense.
And part of that problem is that the coach refuses to have anything to do with a man-to-man when the beloved zone is getting carved to pieces.
100 points to Colgate!
They shot 41.9% from 3 against us...that's obviously very good but it's not so good that it's unbeatable. The issue is they missed 38 shots and rebounded 19 of them. Good shooting night + grabbing your own rebounds any time you do miss is a pretty easy formula to never lose. After the game I was ready to write it off as a once in a lifetime game for Colgate.

And the teams performances since the Colgate somehow indicate that was a "one-off"?!?! Are you watching the same team as me??They had a once in a blue moon shooting day. But here's the thing.Crazy that Niagara has the athletes to play man. I thought only schools like Nova and Auburn had the athletes to play man defense.
