Plus McCord is #47 on the list overall.  He’s not anywhere close to a top 5 QB, and you’re not assessing objectively if you think he’s a better college QB than anyone on that list (other than maybe Ewers).

I like McCord, he’s a huge upgrade over what we’ve generally had over the last decade - but if we’re honest about it, he’d be a huge disappointment if he followed McNabb 25 years ago.  The drop off between those two in college performance is enormous.  All I’m looking for this year is a good enough year that whatever money we can offer desired recruits is attractive, and we can keep improving our overall talent.  7-5 is iffy for that, 8-4 is adequate - anything more is free money.  But that expectation is because I’m not wildly inflating our current talent level or where our QB ranks compared to the rest of the field; when you have middle of the pack talent and a marginal NFL prospect at QB, nights like Thursday are a distinct possibility.   All that matters now is recovering from it and -hopefully - getting to 8-4.
