Lydon.

Making the call now. He takes a leap comparable to Rak. Only things holding him back are in his head, this year he puts it all together.

Say what you will, don't call me a genius come March. I'll already know it.

Love the optimism, but I don't see him finishing higher than fourth. Not that Robey won't be a key player for us, but White and Battle are that good.

I think his offensive game takes a jump, but White and Battle will be 2nd and 3rd in scoring.

Rak went from 5 ppg to 17 ppg. So you have Roberson in the 20 ppg range (give or take) this year?

Well no not necessarily. I think it'd be just as good if roberson averaged 15 and 10-11 though. Lydon/White/Gillon/Battle are clearly our scorers. I think Roberson finishes well enough around the rim though, and will benefit from our other weapons drawing longer defender to the perimeter, to be able to dominate the offensive boards and get a ton of easy buckets.

When you have Tyus Battle, AWIII and Lydon on the floor with Gillon who can knock down deep 3s... it'll be hard to deal with a post/2nd chance threat. I think he'll flourish with these other forwards and guards who can knock down shots and drive.

That would be tremendously gratifying if it were to happen, but i don't think he has the psychology to be a real scorer. You kinda have to have an ' it if i miss' mentality, and i don't see that in Roberson. He's too much like me...

If it does happen, it probably means we have insanely balanced scoring, and everyone's in the 12-14pt range...

Roberson leads our team in points just behind Lydon.

Are you saying Roberson is 2nd leading scorer just behind Lydon? Or are you saying Lydon will finish just behind Roberson?

Either way - truly an odd wording of that sentence. And I certainly aint no word smith.

I think you get the point.

1. Lydon
2. Roberson

I think a lot of people are sleeping on Gillon, I just recently went back and watched his highlight tape and loved what I saw! He is a good shooter with DEEP range as well as the ability to blow by his defender to get to the hoop. I think the thing that stuck out the most to me however was how good he was at making the right pass at the right time. I think he will average something like 12 points and 6 assists a game, maybe more in the assist department with all the different scoring options we will have around him.

Only Flynn and MCW have averaged more than 6 assists a game since 2001

It won't be easy but if there was ever a year for a Syracuse PG to do it this is the one. Just off of penetration he could kick it out to Lydon, White, or even Battle. Plus all the dump off passes and ally-oops to PC, Roberson, and DC. I honestly think this will be the best offensive Cuse team in a long long time. The only thing that could keep Gillion form getting to 6 assists a game is how the minutes are split between him and Howard at the point.

If Roberson is taking that many shots a game to be second in scoring then that is a massive problem.

We have far too many amazing offensive players, especially with the addition of White for Roberson to score that often.

hitting the glass for offensive put backs and second/third chance points detracts from no one.

How many offensive rebounds a game are you expecting from him to average 15-20 points per game?

I think his improved presence in the post will allow guards to split the defense and drive/dish to him in open space, he showed flashes of spectacular below the basket play in march. He plays well above the hoop for putbacks/oops. And if his midrange really has improved, I think he has enough dimensions to his offensive game that with some polishing/mental determination he could put up a lot of points for us. Not to mention our transition game this season should certainly be more effective and he's built for it.

Nah, better chance of finishing 5th than 1st. We need him to rebound - that is what he will do.

Is Roberson capable of putting up 15-20 on any given night? Yup. Will JB run the O through Roberson enough for him to be the 2nd leading scorer? Nope.

Think he's talented enough on the boards and in transition to provide himself with opportunities ontop of when our ball handlers can find him open.

Rak went from 5 ppg to 17 ppg. So you have Roberson in the 20 ppg range (give or take) this year?
Except the team had little choice to feed Rak to get him to score. Roberson unless he drastically improves his shooting (ie up to 40% range) will be no better than the 4th option on this team.

Ordinarily with a player like Howard on the team, Gillon may not get enough pt to get 6 apg but noting JB's pension for playing his top guys 30+ a game, it may be possible.

I love Roberson's hustle and determination, but he's a below average player specifically in terms of offensive skill. All we need from him is to do exactly what he did last year, i.e. 8-9 ppg and be a beast on the glass.
