This year's class regardless of rankings

A lot of over 6 foot tall players, I don't remember a class that had so many and the only one that has signed so far that is under 6 foot is the kicker and he's 5' 11".
I think Wayne Morgan is ONLY 5'11"...but his 4.4 forty makes up for that;)

4.4, that's it? It certainly is nice to have some size and speed coming in to play for SU...very nice indeed.

As many have stated, I think this is a very good class. I'm really looking forward to watching George Morris develop. His film is awesome.

In the modern era (I'm talking 1980 to now) what are some of our higher recruiting class rankings. I'm just guessing here but even during the glory days we had average classes. Syracuse has always been good at finding the diamonds in the rough, the guy who is a worker, the man among boys to come here and play there ass off. What I see in this class is a bunch of 3 star guys that are loyal, bleed orange, and are hard hat workers. That has always been our core. I'm really high on this class and I feel it is leaps and bounds better then anything we have had in the past ten years.
I don't know about "leaps and bounds" but it is a solid group, especially in OL, DL and TE. OK -- not outstanding -- at RB. Rather average at WR and LB, compared to some rivals who did a lot better at those positions.

We needed help in the DL and did particularly well with the late group of JUCOs. Nothing helps LBs and DBs more than having DEs who can pressure.

The right 3-stars can be fine. Even in the class rankings game. Look at Cincinnati. No 5-stars. No 4-stars. But 23 3-stars and a #29 ranking on Scout. Kentucky and North Carolina also have no 4 or 5 star recruits and their classes rank ahead of ours. And its not like 5-star players are common anywhere, particularly in the northeast. Rutgers and Pitt got 1 each. Oklahoma State, Colorado, Texas Tech, West Virginia, Virginia Tech, Auburn, Arkansas, Clemson and LSU all landed Top 30 classes without a single 5-star.

I think Doug is moving in a direction where we'll be landing primarily 3-star recruits with a few 4-stars mixed in. I'm happy with that direction.

Only time will tell.

Not by you, but these types of posts have been made for every class since the start of time. There will be some stars in it, there will be some contributors in it and there will be some duds, just like every class. To me, it seems like the same class we have every year seemingly. It will all come down to coaching and coaching these kids up and them staying in the program. While the star system can be jaded and questioned at times when discussing a specific kid, it works better when doing a view of complete classes from 10,000 feet. Big picture, even this class is middle of the pack at best. There are more and more good kids. Kids are getting bigger and they are getting faster. So while we may be getting bigger and faster than we were 2 years ago, 5 years ago, 10 years ago, I fear other schools are doing the same and it's all a "in relation to" thing. We have to get out of this 50-60 recruiting class range and start pulling in some top 30 classes.
I'll take middle of the pack, considering its a step up from bottom of the pack on-field performance.

Next year can we crack top 45?
