Staying with what worked - Hunt running. Stayed away, mostly, from what wasn't working - WR screens. Throwing it down field. Throwing a short pass over the middle - well one at least. Wish he would add the bootleg near the goal line.

The last play was basically TE throwback... Best playcall of the year for GMD.

I firmly believe that while a lot of the problems on offense were GMD learning on the job... the bigger issue is that he was trying to work around the limitations of his QBs and receivers which made him look 10x worse. If today's game is a sign of next year's offense then I can't wait for next season.

He called a pretty good game today, but I think that last play call that won the game should earn him a little good will going forward. That was one hell of a call when we needed it the most
Great call, just freaking great. And Hunt put the ball in great position for an easy catch and run.

really he made several good calls that Hunt also made some bad passes on.. probably had 2-3 deep balls that better touch could have led to huge plays.

I think it was a bit of 'nothing to lose' philosophy at play. They let it hang out a bit more than they have all year.
Yup. I don't think they normally let Hunt lug it t so much, hut last game with a bowl on the line...

he also made some great throws. the one on the 2nd drive that hit Moore in the hands in the end zone was a perfectly placed throw. So was the one where he threaded it between 3 guys to Estime.

Called a better game; Hunt improved; team fought & won. All good.

Best thing is that haters will stop hammering the coaches.

I think they need Moore at OT. His hands have been very questionable

No they won't but we won't care.

His play calling was so good that even my wife had no idea what was coming next. Usually she says, "They will run it into the most crowded part of the field for no gain."

The playbook was trimmed down and plays.simplified, with easier.options/reads. Sounds.like HCSS and OCGMD have moved towards what HCDM and OCHackett installed laes year. Keep it up and next year will see a marked improvement.

Fans in 301 were applauding McDonald after the game. I hope that takes some sting out of the Pitt game when same fans were obviously livid with his last drive calls.

Shafer said that in his press conference - that there was a combo of replacing great players and a young OC learning a bit.

According to twitter. GMC named ACC Coordinator of the week.

So yeahs I'd say he had a good week

Much better game for sure. Still a few head scratchers, but overall, I liked it.

It's funny when a Marrone team had 520 yards of offense people were reaching for the Jergens in 5 gallon buckets when George does it, well it's ok, he did ok, still some head scratchers... He also did it with a ton of injuries, the very type,of scenario we had 2 years ago, where we seemed to roll it up the last 5 games. Interesting how that happens.

I could give a shite either way but it is strange. The guy makes a great call to win the game and we worry about the fade pattern that he could have called that sailed into the stands on 3rd down instead. Not saying the guy hasn't been without fault but some of the nitpicking is insane

Yeah, I mean, what's up with that?

The game plan was excellent, Hunt played great, kids with no talent made plays. They did a great job of mixing it up on first down, using play action and getting into manageable down and distances. Used the TE and more intermediate throws in the middle of the field. Sticking with having Hunt be a big part of the run game paid off.
