I was initially going to post a long rambling diatribe about the UVA game but its clear those who are on this board follow the program and know what the issues are, no sense in rehashing what we all know.
I will say that as dissapointed as I am in the 2-2 record I am probably more dissapointed in Coach Desko and the staff. His responses/reaction to the Maryland loss were muted/subdued and seemed odd to even Dave Rhame who mentioned it in his article. Then after the UVA debacle he has the gull to say that he thought we looked better on clears that game. I dont know what planet he was watching the game from but when Quint Kessenich says its the worst peformance he has seen by an SU team in his life and his broadcast parter an SU grad and player calls the clearing game "gross", its clear his response was delusionsal borderlining on absurd. Where is the fire from the head coach? Where is the passion? Where is the anger? Reading his post game comments or watching his PC it feels like syracuse just lost a meaningless fall ball game, theres little emotion from the head coach and almost an indifference to the fact we just got our freeking doors blown in. The fact that people on this board are more pissed off then he is about the way this team is playing is frightening. This feels like 07 all over again.
In regards to SJU and the rest of the season its clear that this is a must win game. A loss Satruday will effectively end this season from a tournament perspective. I know that sounds odd being 5 games in but with the following three games being JHU, Duke (both on the road) and then ND. Syracuse needs to salvage a 2-2 mark to give itself any chance. Even more concerning is the fact that Syracuse has no automatic tournament birth to rely on as we are likely to finish as the 5th or 6th seed and only the top 4 make the ACC conf tourney. The next two games are the staff and teams chance to salvage the season or go down as one of the most dissapointing teams of the modern era. While Saturdays game isnt televised (great job Syracuse), I hope we hear that there have been some changes to the wings and Defensive to try and spark this team, we allready know Daddio will again be starting and get the majority of the draws. St. Johns has an outstanding attack but is weak at the X and defense, so we could be looking at an Albany type of game. Really hope Syracuse comes out and gets a solid win but based on our last two games against St. Johns expect a 1 or 2 goal game.
