-Clemson and GTech seem to be as evenly matched as it gets, except King is obvi the better QB. Walk off FG for the win at Tech. I think we'll be slinging the ball alot against both of them, but plenty of other threads for that discussion.
-Miami is rolling. Appears they have figured out how to play defense. Going to be a tough spot for us especially since alot of our fanbase thought this might be a game we could pull the upset again.
-SMU slow start, down 10-0 early. Easily won after the 1st quarter. Noticed 130 yards of penalties and against a team they were 28 point favorites.
-Is Pitt anything this year? Losing to a WVU team granted a big rivalry game on the road that just lost to THE Ohio Bobcats.
-UNC: Beats up Richmond at home. Lopez has a 20.4 QB rating. That's after playing Charlotte and Richmond the last 2 weeks.
-Duke: Loses to Tulane after stealing their QB. Only cost them 4 Mil to be 1-2 to start the season. Will Duke buy Tulane's new QB next portal? He dropped 4 Rushing TDs on them ha. Sorry hoops blue bloods you can't just overpay for the top QB in the portal or bring on a 73 year old retired HoF coach and expect to win overnight.
-BC. Taken down by Stanford? Dozens of people prob stayed up to watch the 1030PM start at Stanford. Lost by 10 and were 12 point favorites. Shut out for 3 quarters against Stanford, what...I didn't think Stanford had a coach. Anyone actually watch any of this game, must've been some nasty jetlag?
-ND could have problems in South Bend with an 0-2 start. Does a 10-2 ND team make the CFP playing alot cupcakes and not another ranked team this year, surely not at 9-3., but it is ND so who knows?
-Not on the calendar but the once mighty Hokies are a sinking ship. Big Trouble in Little Blacksburg.

*Not ACC related but what an all time choke for Tennessee...Give up the 4th and long TD, then the 2 pt conversion, then miss a 40 yard FG and then lose in OT. I think they may be the best team we play this year although now the narrative and rankings change given they couldn't put Georgia down again at home.

Yep, these are still really tough games with a young team.
Agreed. 6-7 wins.

I think UNC and Duke at home just got more manageable. And My read on Ga Tech and you’ll hear their own fanbase say this up and down. Haynes King needs to survive the season, Once he goes down they go down. SMU is also not a playoff team. BC and Pitt look suspect too.

I think people focus too much on how much teams look vs how they match up against us. That’s all that matters.

We need younger guys to grow up in a hurry. I still think we stub our foot at home in one game which necessitates stealing one on the road somewhere. Great season required sweeping at home and two on the road.

But more realistic it’s going 5-1 at home and stealing one on the road to go 6-6. It’s just about momentum for next year.

I’m still going with seven wins because I think the team is going to play a whole lot better in November than what they’re doing now. Key is 3-2 leaving September. Clemson looks more winnable on paper but it’s a tough road atmosphere for a young team. I also don’t think it’s a great matchup for us given physicality vs some of our other road games. We match up better against SMU than Clemson for example.

Game against Tennessee is a hostile environment has to help the team going into this week but I still think it’s a hard place to win.

Agreed
I think we learn ALOT about the team and the youngsters this week

This may sound strange but I think Duke back at the dome is the key to the whole season.

If things goes bad at Klempson and they don’t take care of business against Duke they’re rolling down to Texas on a 2 game losing streak with a 3 game skid likely before the bye week.

We also will lose a lot of the fair weather fans if we drop an egg to a mediocre Duke and end up 2-4 at the bye. In a season with no time to reset a 3 game losing streak is going to really hurt.

On the other hand if we show Duke that we got the better QB for a quarter of the price that could put us in great shape to steal a game on the road at SMU. A

Perfect world 4-2 at the bye week. TCOB Pitt back at home gets us to 5. Then it’s all upside with UNC and BC looking very basic to get the bowl game + chances to make some waves with the big boys

GT probably has the best backup in the ACC (but not a runner) so I wouldn’t doubt they can beat us without King. Agree BC, Pitt Duke, UNC and SMU all look beatable if we just play a little more D.

They don’t beat us without King. Philo is decent but best backup in the league may be a stretch.

Being at home, with the talent they have, even without King they would be favored against us right now. Stanford‘s crappy quarterback beat us in the dome.

Being favored doesn't mean they win. The fact is they nearly choked away the Clemson game. Are they a good team? Yes but King is what makes them go and with his legs adds a dimension Philo doesn't.

Not much has changed for my hopes this year. UConn game has me down. Teams on our schedule not being as good doesn't change much. The reasoning for thinking we will lose is still there.

Clemson- I think there is a better chance of winning but it is still a small one. It is a road game against a good D.

Duke- I thought we would win this game and still do. They have played worse than I expected.

SMU- road games are hard to win. I do think with a few breaks we can outscore them. IMO this is our best chance at stealing a roadie.

Pitt- we have 2 weeks to prep which should help. But it is such a bad matchup. I think we are the better team before and still do. We need to find a way to handle their blitz.

GA Tech- road game against a team that will run the ball all over us. Last year the way we played them caught their O off guard. Won't happen this year. Plus Fran's antics will add extra motivation. Their HC is prone to Ls but I have a hard time seeing us winning this one.

UNC- no clue what to think of them. The look bad but at the same time I think they will out game plan us. I do think we are better than them.

Miami- they won't take us lightly after last year. This could be ugly.

Notre Dame- we do have two weeks to prep. Their D looks like crap this year. If we can slow down their run game (big IF), I suppose we could steal this.

BC- hate the timing of this game. We are the better team but will we have anything left in the tank? I also think they will out game plan us.

I think we are better than all the teams we play at home. Before the season I thought it would be hard to go 5-1. After the UConn game I think it will be even harder. I like our chances of stealing a road game a little better. But still think going 1-5 will be difficult given that we are worse than every team we play.

Agree with alot here. One thing I'm noticing about our team is that we are playing pretty inconsistent from half to half and it doesn't seem to matter if it's Home or Away. Could be a good thing or a bad thing. We also seem to play up or down to the competition also which happens with a young team.

I think UNC in particular being nowhere near where people expected is a huge for us. I'm not sure that team stays focused and motivated especially having to roll into CNY on a Friday night for Halloween if they are sitting with a losing record. UNC is also sandwiched between GTech on the road and Miami/ND on the road, now the 3 remaining ranked teams on our schedule.

My hot take is that California may make the ACC championship this year. Already 3-0 with a win over Minnesota, and their acc schedule is about as easy as it could be:

BC
Duke home
UNC home
VA Tech
UVA home
Louisville
Stanford
SMU home

I could easily see them losing only one of these

Wow you’re not kidding. I’ve not followed them at all, are they any good?

Miami is only a 3 point favorite at home vs. Florida. I thought that line would be closer 7.5 or so. Vegas knows something.
Vegas failed to know that the UF offense is stuck in N. So unless the Gators could hold Miami to no more than 6, Miami was going to win by more than 3, by more than 7.5.
