Three new traditions

bring back the Saltine Warrior

I wish we still had it too but it isn't happening. Unfortunately we lost that history because it was felt to be politically incorrect.

Every time I see this answer it reminds me of a band taking request for songs and without a doubt someone says free bird.

At last year's homecoming game they brought back the bell to the sideline which is rung after evert touchdown. Hopefully it makes a repeat appearance at the Clemson game. I wish it would be brought back permanently.

It would be especially effective since it takes a while for them to fire up the Express after touchdowns. Having the bell ringing with the train whistle blasting - would be a great effect.

Which fraternity used to ring it?

That bell comes out at all homecoming games best I can remember.

Yep me too.

You know how some NFL teams run out of the inflatable helmets... let's get one shaped like a locomotive, whistle and steam, the whole bit, for when we take the field.

I'll start the down payment on one.

Yes I'm drunk... 12 more days of Clemson pregaming... LGO

This has potential. How about 44 oz beers sold at halftime?

Easily fixed. Give Otto a spear and have him attack the opposing mascot. Have him drop the spear like a guy would drop a mic to get off stage. Then play the doors creaking shut and the lock sound.

As Otto comes out, have him hold up a wicked looking skeleton key, have the announcer say that Otto is locking the opposing team in the dome and then have the sound of an old door slam shut and it being locked!

A packed Dome would be a fun tradition again. Gives us such a home field advantage.

When we convert a first down the sound of a train on train tracks needs to play.

Let's bring back that voice that played every time we had a first down:

FIRRRRRRRSSSSSSST DooooOooOOOWwwwWWWWNNNNNN

Thank God we rarely got first downs. That was AWFUL.

I like three but you need to hear the door lock
+1
Since the Dome has several entrances, you could also do multiple doors closings to drive home the point, accompanied by video on the scoreboard of various doors being closed and locked. Or show security (or the team/coaches) actually closing and locking the doors to the Dome. Have a standard video with a cameo or two mixed in each week (alums being honored, local dignitaries, Otto, holiday-themed characters, etc.).

Alpha Chi Rho...as a Crow from 1960-1963, I enjoyed several games at home and at the Polo Fields in New York getting awesome sideline passes for the bell "crew".

That's good stuff!

We're closing in a routine now...
  1. teams go on field with their regular entrance
  2. Otto comes out on golf cart/train thing
  3. He's either waving a big key or goes to midfield somewhere and picks it up.
  4. Cue sound: "I envision a Dome that shakes and intimidates. And when we get the opposition in the Loud House, we lock the doors behind them and we don't let them out for 60 minutes or more, whatever it takes. They are locked in the Dome and we don't let them escape." while Otto drives out the tunnel waving the key.
  5. Cue video with Otto delivering key to a prison guard looking guy who closes a door to the Dome (accompanied by a loud creak/slam/locking sounds).
  6. Repeat 3 or 4 more times with clips of Brown, Little, McNabb, Freeney, etc. slamming a door.
  7. End with a surprise guest (different every game) closing the last door. Could be a former player in town to get his jersey raised, Coach Mac, Boeheim or a hoops alum, Billy Fucillo, an orange monster (for the game closest to Halloween), Lee Corso, local celeb dejour, etc.
The entire routine would take 1-2 minutes and get everyone fired up.

Can we get this Jason Poles?

When Otto comes out have the train noise slow down as he gets to mid field. As he picks keys up you here keys jingling. Then 4-7. After you the surprise guest walks out to mid field everyone gets raudy. They both get on the train and u hear it pick up speed while Otto and guest go around the farthest part of the field make they way back to the end where he came from by then it's a runaway train blaring the horn with the Doppler effect. Boom

We're going to need a bigger train.

I thought we already opened and closed the doors when an opponent attempts a pass or field goal?

That makes it even better. Since the door closing scenes will have been filmed weeks to months before gameday, we can do whatever we want that day. Opponents will then never expect the pressure changes.

Yeah they got in some trouble when I was on the hill I think this is a privilege that was taken away as a result.
