Our entire team hit as many three's the entire game as one St. John's player did in a couple minute stretch.

Im not asking this team to shoot 40 percent from three. Im not even asking for them to shoot 33 percent...but

I really would appreciate 25 percent at least.

Unfathomable how bad we shoot

Shooting 25% would rank SU at 284th in the country.

No idea where we are now, since they only list the top 285. :(

Well, we must be ahead of someone. What about New Jersey IT, we must be ahead of them. They played their first ranked team ever today.

we are at 20.9 % after tonight

347th and dropping quickly!

Temple shot pretty well from deep today (over 50%), and Florida State shot 25% today, so it looks like at the very least we have a shot at hitting 350 by the end of the weekend!!!! If Grambling shot reasonably well we might make it!

LGO!!!

I'll get started on the "We're #1!" t-shirts!!!

how does a team this inept from three-point range take 22 three-point shots in a game that was neck and neck for the first 37 minutes?

and where's JB in all of this? we've seen him on hundreds of occasions immediately take out a player for making a poor pass or forcing a shot, yet patterson chucks up seven threes -- most of which seemed to come in about a two-minute span in the second half -- and he stays in the game. it's almost as though JB thinks this is a great shooting team that'll eventually shoot themselves out of this slump. how else can you explain the number of threes these guys take every game?

Who knows - collapse on McC and Rak - and then make the rest beat you.

This is the rest:

Cooney can't get open to save his life - and can't make anyone pay on the overplay.

Patterson is open, but can't hit shots.

Joseph is doing god knows what, he sure isn't getting back on D though. :)

And G is showing flashes, but still is sort of an enigma.

contrary to popular belief, cooney has been missing plenty of wide open threes.

THat just isnt true. This has to be coaching. Cooney sits on 1 side of the court. No screens, no movement. We are voluntarily playing 4 on 5 right now.

Cooney proved he can be a phenomenal shooter over 25+ games.

He shot 4 3's yesteraday. Patterson shot 7 and KJo shot 5. Cooney shot 4.

There can not be another game this season that Cooney doesnt shoot 10. JB needs him to shoot to get his mojo back.

And Cooney can make anyone pay for overplay. He gets to the rack when he wants to.

Cooney's not the problem. We have three guys opposing teams try to guard on defense. Christmas, Cooney, and McCullough. Opposing teams want the other two guys on the court to shoot. We saw what happens when that game plan is executed. It's not pretty for us.

People can say they want Patterson or BJ to have more minutes, but based on what? This is the least improved sophomore class since, Nichols, McCroskey, Watkins, and Roberts were here.

Last year we were a bad shooting team with guys who would not even attempt 3s...this year we are a bad shooting team with guys who want to show they can make them. The latter is worse.

Lavin came up with a great game plan ... double Christmas and McCullough, keep a man in Cooney's face, and let the other guys try to make shots.

The other guys (KJ, G, Buss, and BJ) went 3-18.

I sure hope that other coach's don't take notice. :bang:

we never shoot really good. we have better talent than almost all we play. good shooting is a product of raw talent and the quality of the shots manufactured. the leader is always unhappy and negative sally. he needs to let some one younger coach this team. we have no man offense because we never practice against good man. one particular game silent g dnp. Patterson was like 5 of 6. jb poo pooed it and said he usually misses. he got his wish. got to go later

Truth be told, we are rarely more talented. JB's schemes and system make players appear more talented than they are: Moten, Nichols, Warrick, Jackson, AO, Brown. All of those guys excelled in college. None did much of anything in the pros. Pros are about talent. Guys with it play. Guys without it go home, or to Europe or the D league.

Patterson was 4-5 in an exhibition game once. He's 2-18 in games that count.

Ghost is right. You are wrong.

Cooney is not Devo. He is trying to make teams pay for the overplay but getting to the rack is not his strong suit.

And if he is going to have a guy in his jock all game long, shooting closely contested threes would be ill-advised.
